“Lovely house and area”
Reviewed 21 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

I booked this not knowing the area, wanting to go to the S Wales coast but not wanting to be too far West to cut down travelling time for some members of the family. It turned out to be a good decision. The house is comfortable and modern, with everything you could need provided, easy parking, near the beach and the town. Kay and Chris were there to greet us and show us where everything was plus give tips on the area. They left us phone numbers and an email address in case there were any problems during our stay. The courtyard garden is suntrap and a lovely place to sit a chill.
A 2 min walk away is the Millennium path and the beach. We walked west along the path to Pembrey Country park, it took about 50mins but was worth it. We also hired bikes from Llanelli cycles, which is on the main street in Burry Port, to explore the Path. They were extremely helpful, telling us the best way to go and where to stop for refreshments. The 17miles round trip to the Wildlife Wetlands Trust east of Llanelli took us about 3 1/2 hours (5 adults), including a stop for lunch at the WWT. The beach in Burry Port is not huge but even on a sunny hot day in the school holidays it was not full. Anyone staying here is warned about the tides, sandbars and mudflats - you must take note of the warnings, the river which runs close to the beach looks very insignificant when the tide is out but rises very quickly when the tide turns and a family had to be rescued by the RNLI Lifeboat from the sandbar between the river and the sea whilst we were on the beach.
The town has butchers, bakers, a Co-op and some pubs and cafes. We did struggling to get food on the Monday evening but drove the 5minute journey to the Pembrey Country Inn where the food was excellent.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend both the area and the house.

“Beautiful house, beautuful beaches.”
Reviewed 8 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

A fantastic house, beautifully presented with every eventuality catered for. The beach is moments away, quiet with golden sand, perfect for a small boy who wants to spend his day digging. Harbour and yacht club close by with friendly locals. Fantastic walks and cycle ways for those who want a little exercise. Carmarthen either a drive or an even better train ride away along the estuary. Other fab days out include the wetlands centre, Aberglasney and the Botanic gardens.

“Great location, helpful owner, lovely house. All-in-all a fab holiday!”
Reviewed 27 April 2014 for a stay in April 2014

We had a great time at Sandy Harbour House. It's very well presented and comfortable. Kay was very helpful and welcoming, giving us local tips as well as being on hand to help answer questions. It was a shame not to have wi-fi as our phone reception wasn't very good in the area so we couldn't easily research day trips, so be more organised plan ahead ;) We loved being able to go for nice walks with our 22 month daughter up to the lighthouse and along the beach, refuelling at the Lighthouse cafe along the way. Burry Port is quite quiet itself, but everyone we met were very friendly. The house is in a great location to explore the nearby Pembury Country Park, we took a few trips there as we loved the beach and facilities. Folly Farm well worth a visit if you have little ones, journey took less than an hour.
We would certainly go back again and really loved our holiday. Very happy memories of wonderful family time together.
