remotely set in the hillside behind Sinaraja, this place is a gem.
Peaceful, secluded and wonderful bungalow accommodation with spectacular views.
Cooking is good but not outstanding. Staff members are friendly and efficient.
A great place to lay back and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the country side.

The downside of its remoteness is that transport is needed to get anywhere, such as the coast and Sinaraja.

'Natural panorama' almost understates just how beautiful this place is and 2 nights was really not enough for me - next time it will be more. Set high on a ridge above a ravine with the gurgling and rushing of the waterfall clearly audible, Shanti offers a gloriously peaceful and isolated place where you can lose yourself in daydreams. Or you can walk the waterfall track, swim in the infinity pool or hang out in the beautiful restaurant and bar, chatting to the staff.

The staff were really a cut above as far as friendliness, service and smiles went - nothing was too much trouble and the smiles could not have been bigger. The food was also delicious - we didn't bother going anywhere else.

The accommodation is traditional Balinese style and very private with separate buildings, complete with sitting areas, for guests and an array of other bales for lounging, or reading, or even privately dining in. If you find stairs a bit challenging however, request a building that does not have the lounge under the bedroom - the stairs to the bedroom of the building I was in were a bit high but the view was utterly worth it.

It's about a 3 hr drive from the airport - magnificent towards the end but long after a long flight - so maybe plan to stay somewhere on the way eg Ubud rather than travel straight up there after landing.

Room Tip: If stairs not your favourite thing, check room options with hotel. If stairs of any sort a problem, probably not for you.

I stayed 2 nights at this very nice hotel in October 2014.
The hotel arranged a transfer from Denpasar airport. It took around 3h to get there but it was worthwhile. In fact, the driver, having been told that I was very much interested in local culture, did stop on 2 major temples on the way up so as to make a break on the journey.
The hotel is located in the mountains overlooking Singaraja. You can see both the rice fields and the ocean from up there.
The rooms are located in wooden bungalows, very nice and comfortable. The bathroom could be improved but the overall appraisal is good.
The staff was very helpful and amicable. The gardens are beautiful and very well treated. The view from the pool is superb. On that time of the year there was not many people around so it felt quite cozy.
I asked the hotel to organize a walk through the rice fields. The guide was very amicable and really new his way around. We saw several water-falls, stopped to swim in a natural lake, walked alongside the beautiful rice fields and stopped for a coconut juice and some talking with the locals.
In the evening and early morning some monkeys could be seen walking around.
I also had one very nice massage and this is really a place to relax and enjoy nature.

The only negative (but important) note I must give is regarding the food. There is no excuse for the uninspiring, shopping-mall kind of food (Indonesian) served on premises. Even the rice was not up to standard. It was quite incomprehensible.

Even so, I would definitely advise at least a 2/3 days stay, even if you have to go into town for a meal.

Room Tip: nice views, lovely pool, beautiful gardens

Views are great. The whole area is well arranged. Beautiful garden around all villas. The small villas are a bit tiny but enough to accomodate 2 persons. We upgraded to a bigger one, which was spacious and really nice. The stuff is, as usual in Bali, very kind. Because there are no restaurants in the vicinity, the kitchen is very important but unfortunately a total loss. You can eat everything but it is really disappointing you. We tried many things, but even the breakfast was better in all the other small low price homestays we've been during our trip around bali. If the owner can manage it to improve the food offer, than the hotel can be recommended for a longer stay. But today i would not advice to sleep there longer than 2 or 3 nights. Too bad.

Nice and excellent communication, Friendly staff, beautiful views in the mountains near Singaraja.
.....We were met bij the driver and one of the staff from SHANTI Panorama hotel on the Denpasar airport and it took us almost three hours to reach the Shanti hotel ( USD 54,00). Unfortunately it was dark, but the next morning when there was light we were treated on one of the most spectacular views in Bali. There are several types of cottages available and we were in one of the smaller free standing ones ( (not the 2 storey ones). The space was enough, "klamboe" around the bed , but it was very dark. That is the only negative i can give on the room, WiFi signal is not available or very weak in the cottages, so when you need an internet connection ( as i did) please note that you have to be in the restaurant of the hotel.
