First off, I cannot figure out how they can call themselves a resort - there is nearly ZERO customer service here. I chose this place because it was on the beach AND had a pool - something to satisfy everyone in our travel party.

We get there after a grueling day of travel - Marie Galante is not an easy place to get to - and we wait about 10 minutes before someone comes to the desk to check us in. Because we are American they will not accept our Visa (even though they accept Visa) because it doesn't have a European chip in it. And so it begins ... 45 MINUTES LATER the desk person/groundskeeper/manager still hasn't been able to process my card on paypal even after trying all 3 of my cards that work fine everywhere else. 45 minutes! We're tired and we're starving. Finally she suggests we go to the bank for cash the next day. She tells us breakfast is included and served on the deck buffet style btw 7:30 and 8 and takes us to our room.

Our room smells like mold. There are no pillowcases. The sliding door doesn't lock so we have to lower the hurricane shade at night. It wasn't until the 3rd day that she had someone fix it.

We wake up and sit outside waiting for her to finish making coffee - which clearly everyone else is doing, too. Why would coffee not be the very first thing you make - particularly if most of your clientele is French and therefore coffee drinkers? So we wait, and wait, and wait. In the meantime she puts out about a dozen sweet rolls (the hotel is full and there are about 25 of us), only 2 or 3 of which are pain au chocolat, there's plenty of plain bread, and some butter pats that she doled out like a controlled substance, some jelly, and some unripe bananas. Bananas, by the way, are one of the principle crops of Guadeloupe - how on earth can she serve unripe bananas? Then came the meager scrambled egg w/bacon bits, and finally ONE POT of coffee. It became a race to see who could get to the coffee first. On the third day I think she finally made a second pot BUT didn't have any eggs, only slices of cheese. It was outrageous.

Their "fitness area" is a corner of the patio into which is crammed numerous rusty, and some of it broken, poor quality exercise machines.

Their wifi, while free, was spotty and very slow.

The pool, while a nice size, is dirty - there was some sort of "funk" on the bottom. Plus, it's protected by some sort of alarm that resets itself if you don't swim for awhile, so you have to disengage the alarm whenever you go in or risk waking the dead with an alarm. The deck is lovely but the chairs are actually in a loose gravel bed - which you simply cannot walk on barefoot - pretty to look at, just not practical.

Their beach is not swimmable - it's only a few inches deep until you get to the reef, and along the way are numerous sea urchins.

The location is great and the view is fantastic but this place was VERY disappointing. Don't call yourself a resort if you're not one. This is a massive case of over-promising and grossly under-delivering.
