“Perfect Holiday Home For A Family”
Reviewed 13 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We stayed in the cottage with 6 adults and 2 small children. There was tons of space in the house and it never felt crowded. It is a perfect house for a family. The house itself is a beautiful well kept house. The views are absolutely amazing. The owner couldn't have been more helpful in answering all of my questions and addressing all of my requests before we got there. The directions to the house were spot on. Once at the house, everything (heating, water, electronics) had very detailed helpful instructions. To top it off, there was a kids room with an unbelievable amount of toys, books, and puzzles. Our 3 year old son loved it. The location of the house was also great with Tralee, Killarney, and Killorglin all within 30 min of the house. We will definitely be staying there next time we are in Ireland and I would recommend the house to anyone.

This was our second visit to this cottage and it just gets better. The cottage is very clean and we'll equipped which makes it feel like home. The peace and tranquility plus the lovely views over looking the mountains and the gentle sound of the stream running down the side of the cottage makes it the ideal holiday location. It's location is great for days out with a short drive to Tralee and Killarney or exploring the Dingle peninsula. We would be happy to recommend this cottage to family and friends.

“Lovely comfortable house with fantastic view.”
Reviewed 29 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

Two couples plus a friend visiting Ireland. The house was perfect with plenty of room furnished to a high standard and the conservatory an added bonus. The location is central for visiting Co Kerry and the view is amazing. Communication with the owner was good. The pub, The Anvil, about 3k down the road, does a very good steak.

“Awesome cottage!”
Reviewed 22 June 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We loved the cottage. It is immaculately decorated and very clean. Pretty much everything we could have needed was provided. It has tons of room. The owners are very helpful and nice too. If you are planning to tour the country, it may be a bit of a drive from certain parts- however, if you are planning to see Dingle, Killarney, etc. Its a great location! There are sheep in the backyard which my kids loved! Also, when traveling Ireland get a map instead of using Google Maps. Believe me...

“Well set up, quiet location”

We stayed here for a week in May. The house was easy to find with the directions provided - it is in a rural location, so you will have to drive a bit to get anywhere. There were no problems getting in, and everything with the house is pretty straightforward. It's a good location if you want to tour the Dingle Peninsula, Ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park. We did take a day trip up to the Cliffs of Moher, it's close to a 3 hour drive through Limerick, on the way back, we took the Tarbert Ferry and hit it right so there was little waiting - it shaved a 1/2 hour off the drive. But if you miss the ferry, it would be a 1/2 hour wait. There are several villages/towns you can hit within a 15 minute drive, Castlemaine is only 5 minutes away. We ended up going to Tralee and Killarney for most of our groceries. There are also lots of places within 10 minutes to eat at - there were a number of recommendations provided by the owner.

The house itself is very nice, the rooms are all well set up. There were just the 2 of us, but there would have been plenty of room for a family group as it's a 3 bedroom, so we didn't use the entire house. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes/glasses/cutlery/cooking utensils and so forth - more than enough. Large fridge and quality cooktop and oven. If we were going to come back we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

The only reason I gave it 4/5 and not 5/5 is because there is no WiFi (we talked with the owner and he mentioned it is in the works) and also it was a little bit inconvenient having to pay the electricity and oil costs on checkout. We've never had to do that before, usually it's built into the rental price, so I was keeping an eye on the meters trying to judge how much cash I would need to keep on hand so I would have enough on checkout. Not a big deal, just be aware there will be a bit of an added cost depending on how much power and oil you use. It was cool out for most of the week, so we turned on the heat - the combined cost for a week was about 65 Euros, though if we had left the heat on full time it would have been more, we just heated when we were there.

Shamrock Cottages also took care of our car rental from Shannon Airport. Their pricing was a bit better than anything I could find. We started in Dublin, took the train to Limerick and a bus to Shannon Airport and picked up the car there. We flew out of Shannon a week later. It's a nice airport, easy to get to and much quieter than Dublin.
