We stayed at Tarn four nights with our two children. This is a great place to stay with children and was such a lovely, peaceful base whilst enjoying the delights of Plettenberg Bay. The lodge is about 15 mins drive from Plett and taxis were expensive, so will not be ideal for those who want to stay out late/drink etc.
We had the rooms that combine via a corridor to provide two bedrooms behind one door. This was completely ideal for a family. I do think these bedrooms need a bit of a revamp, the decoration is a bit tired and some work needs to be done on cracked shower floors etc. Also in the other places we stayed we had things like a heated towel rail and ground coffee with coffee maker etc. I think these little extras provide a bit more luxury and are more in keeping for this standard of hotel. However these really are the only negatives. We had Christmas Lunch at the lodge, and were so delighted to join Erika and her extended family for lunch ( we were the only guests eating at this time). It really felt like a family lunch and we had wonderful food and company, a big thank you to all of Erika's family who gave us a home from home for the day. It was lovely to have the pool for the boys to play in after a day...We stayed at Tarn four nights with our two children. It was lovely to have the pool for the boys to play in after a day out, and they loved throwing the ball for Ruby the dog. Breakfast was good but not the absolute best we had on the stay - impossible to get soft boiled eggs! We didn't eat at the lodge for dinner any other time, that was just we like to try lots of different places,, but a number of other families did and all enjoyed it. Views and gardens were amazing!
Anyway I think the only reason I can't give 5 stars is that accommodation in SA is of such a high standard ! Improve a few of these small things and it will be 5 star. Point to note the wine at the bar is very good and very reasonable. There is so much to do in this area that is a great family holiday stop.More
