A memorable stay in a stunning location

Review of Tamodi Lodge
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 03 Apr 2018
The Johnston family has created a fabulous, stylish lodge in a beautiful location; the views from Tamodi are literally breathtaking, overlooking the valley and distant mountain range. This is a very special property and we really enjoyed our stay here. Waking to the sound of birdsong and then experiencing a Tamodi breakfast makes a truly luxurious start to the day - the breakfasts are fabulous! It was a wonderful treat to stay in the honeymoon suite and the outdoor shower is to be recommended..... Big thanks to Chelsea, Nathanial and the rest of the team for looking after us so well - we hope to visit again.

We visited Tamodi Lodge in March with another couple and although we stayed in many lovely places during our six week trip, Tamodi was voted our favorite. The lodge, the rooms, the breakfasts - all was well planned. The view was amazing. We enjoyed our dinners at nearby Enriques Restaurant as the location on the beach couldn't be surpassed and the food was delicious. A fun place.

We had one of the honeymoon suites ... the decor is fab, with your own cottage with great views across the valley. all the rooms have glass walls which makes for a bright open space... with loads of luxury touches . The breakfast were great , and access to the wine cellar with really reasonable priced range to come

The woman who is now my wife and I visited Tamodi during our first trip away together five years ago. Then it was simply one of the most beautiful places on the planet. We went back last night for a night away from staying with relatives locally and it’s got even better. Nestled above lush forest the rooms are huge and sophisticated but comfortable and welcoming at the same time. We stayed in Room 6, part of the newly built annexe, which has its own small plunge pool. Floating in warm water with a drink and soaking up the views is an experience never to be forgotten. Breakfast is fantastic. This morning we were served an amazing combo of poached eggs, potato and beetroot rostis, avo, bacon and a sweet pepper and tomato relish. Scrummy. The hostess Chelsea is delightful and so welcoming. This was, and remains, the best place we’ve ever stayed. Go find out for yourselves.

Tamodi Lodge is centrally located between Knysna and Storms River Mouth, Tsitsikamma National Park, just outside Plettenberg Bay on the Garden Route. It is an ideal touring base.
We were in Rm 5 Honeymoon Suite which has a large decked terrace overlooking stunning African countryside: both woodland and mountains beyond. The accommodation is very well appointed and careful attention has been made to ensure its presentation is both artistic and tasteful whilst fully reflecting its African locality. The peace and beauty of its location cannot be overstated.
The large and airy suite has both indoor and outdoor showers, a freestanding bath, double wash basins and a separate toilet. The king size bed is comfortable and set attractively within the room. A separate storage area is ideal for suitcases and baggage and hanging clothes etc. A seating area with comfy leather chairs ,coffee table and modern wood burning stove is attractively set out in a separate part of the suite adjacent to the kitchen area which comprises sink, refrigerator, kettle, coffee machine and microwave. The room and accommodation was immaculately clean.
Breakfast is serve in the main lodge, a short distance away and enjoys similar stunning view from its covered terrace location, adjacent to the sun deck and infinity pool. Cold and hot food alternatives were available of the same high quality characterised by the rooms. Interesting menu options were presented each day which were of the highest quality and were attractively presented.
Enrico's restaurant is a high quality option for dinner and only minutes away from Tamodi. It is popular with locals and tourists alike and reservations cannot be made - so get there early. It is worth the effort.
Hosts, Owen and his daughter, Chelsea were excellent re their knowledge of the area and their warmth of welcome and we are grateful to them for making it a truly memorable experience in a first class guesthouse which they should be rightly proud of. This guesthouse has a real wow factor! We cannot recommend it enough.

Room tip: The quality of all accommodation is very high.
