Owner description: Jukani is part of the South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance (SAASA) #PlettPredators #CragsCarnivores #HandsOffOurWildlife #SaasaVisit Come and visit Jukani which is the home of rescued predators and other wildlife where the focus is on conservation and education, specifically on the plight of predators both in captivity and in the wild all over the world. At Jukani you can see most of the larger cats such as lion, Bengal and Siberian tiger, jaguar, leopard, cheetah, puma, caracal and serval together with rarer species such as white lions and tigers and black leopard. The sanctuary is also home to other predators such as African wild dog, hyena, jackal, honey badger and zorilla together with other wildlife such as zebra, springbuck and raccoons. Our experienced and knowledgeable guides will take you on a tour of the sanctuary and introduce you to its inhabitants whilst offering a wealth of interesting and fascinating information regarding each of the species.A visit to Jukani is not just about viewing big cats, it is an informative experience at a sanctuary where the animal's physical and emotional needs are placed first and foremost. Unlike some other facilities, the cats here do not breed and cubs are not removed from their mothers to be 'cuddled' by visitors. These cubs often end their days as trophy hunter's prey. Jukani is a sanctuary, a place of refuge where the wildlife is treated with respect and protected from hunting and other dangers in safe and natural surroundings. The South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance, a non-profit organisation (PBO No. 200/060 667/08 NPO 008 - 464) is the sole custodian of all the animals at Jukani, and therefore their future is secured. Jukani is funded by means of responsible eco-tourism and strives to achieve an effective balance between conservation and economic reality.A restaurant and curio shop is also available together with disabled access and facilities.

“Interesting Guided Tour”
Reviewed 24 February 2017

Different species of big cats live here in their separate, fenced areas. These areas are seem to be large enough for them, especially since they can find places to hide from the visitors. Our guide answered all our questions, even critical ones, about the animals. You can climb a number of platforms alongside the fences to take pictures of the cats above the fences.

“A lot of action in one place”
Reviewed 18 February 2017 via mobile

I have learned so much in an hour and saw beautiful animals that was well taken care of. The Siberian Tiger was absolutely stunning, the cougar/puma was walking close by the fence making great photos, and also the Beijing Tiger was wanting to be apart of the show. There's a lot to offer in one place.

“Ok if you like big cats”
Reviewed 17 February 2017

We had the triple ticket of Jukani, Monkeyland and Birds of Eden. Jukani was the weakest of the three for us. I can appreciate the good work they are doing in protecting and caring for these big cats but seeing one large carnivore after another behind wire just didn't do anything for us i'm afraid. Having said that, we knew before we went it wasn't our thing so I can't blame Jukani for this. I also appreciate they have to be behind wire for obvious reasons. I guess if you like big cats this would do it for you because they have some beautiful animals that are obviously well cared for and look healthy in a lovely setting but it wasn't our cup of tea hence the 3/5

Dear Timothy

Thank you kindly for taking the time to review as we appreciate any and all input.

We understand that you do not like Big Cats but they are just as vulnerable if not more so than other wildlife and as such needs protection. Therefor we created this sanctuary. Thank you though for the compliments on how we are running the sanctuary and we hope you at least learned something from your visit as our message is one of "conservation"

Kindest Regards
