A unique refuge and rehabilitation sanctuary, we were very impressed with Tenikwa, as fellow South-Africans in the Tourism industry we appreciate this great conservation project. The tour exceeded our expectations, the animals are well-kept in spacious enclosures that represent their natural habitat. Loved the different species of cats & close-up encounters with loin cubs and cheetahs. The tour guide was knowledgeable and made sure we understood that the animals were still wild animals, we did not feel intrusive at all, as these cats only experienced enclosed living, not another Zoo which was so great! Will definitely recommend to all our guests. Worth every penny!
Would have loved to be shown the rehabilitation facility!

Very informative guides knew everything about cats. Walking with the cheetahs was the experience of a lifetime.

We went to Tenkiwa expecting an exciting tour and viewing of the animals. However, many of the animals did not have the greatest sightings of, and the tour guide was rather boring. Definitely better versions for this kind of activity in the area.

Thank you for reviewing us.

We are sorry to learn that your experience at Tenikwa was not what you expected.

At Tenikwa we allow guests to enter some of the enclosures as we want guests to experience and learn about the cats in their naturual habitat. However we will never forcefully disturb the animals to entertain guests. On a hot day they will be lazy and in the shade. Which is their natural behavior.

Kind Regards
Steven Hendriks

We were recommended to go to Tenikwa by our hotel who kindly booked us in for the morning Cheetah walk and wild cat combo.

We got to walk a male and female cheetah, and were able to stroke them and get photographs with them. It was an unbelievable experience to be able to be so close to such beautiful animals.

After the walk we had a guided tour around the centre and shown a number of other cats including 2 lion cubs and a leopard.

I would recommend not going at peak times as you will have a more personal experience.
