“A7 Smells Like a Smoking Area”

My plane was to leave at A7, and upon entering it I felt like I was in a different world. The arrival, departure, and check-in areas were modern and pleasant, but getting inside A7 one would instantly smell cigarettes. Not sure where the smoking area is, and whether all boarding areas smell like this, but this was a disappointing farewell to Taiwan.

The rest of the airport is good, though.

the tax refund procedure is simple. it is located at level 2 of terminal 2. firstly, proceed to the machine to register for the tax refund. you can select your refund to be either in cash or credit back to your credit/debit card used for the purchase. there are staffs around for those having difficulties proceeding, the staffs would assist. after you are done, proceed to the cash counter to collect your refund.

there is also a counter at level 3 near to number 19 counter, to temporary hold your luggage with some fees or box up your items as well.

the dining selections are rather few but it's still sufficient to get a simple meal. there are a few shops to shop for souvenirs before departure as well.

do remember to come earlier as the queue to the immigration is quite long.

as we arrived late, we could not take this MRT anymore (but had to take the bus). on the way to the airport, we chose the MRT and it is definitely the better and more time-efficient option.

The express is not really fast (36 min travelling time, express train every 15 min), with free wifi, value-for-money and on time which are crucial travelling to/from airport

The airport is nice, and the restrooms are typically clean. The only problem is that if you have a flight when the shops and restaurants are closed, it is hard to find water. There are vending machines all over, but you have to have the local money to buy it. It taunts you as you desperately search for water. There is an all-night coffee shop in the C gate area with very expensive water. Took us a long walk to find water.
