Great location, large hotel in very well maintained condition. Spacious and well appointed rooms with all amenities. Very large breakfast spread of high quality items, although busy almost no queues at peak times. Good quality room service delivered promptly. State of the art gym and excellent lockers and wet areas. Professional and friendly service throughout. And ... no ghosts ! Would definitely be back when in Taipei.

Stayed 4 nights in a standard room with a lovely view of the city skyline, and was very satisfied overall with the quality of accommodation. It is an enormous property, with 850 rooms, and although 28 years old, it has been beautifully refurbished, with very tasteful East-meets-West decor. It is a very corporate hotel, although it seemed quite popular with tourists too.

Pros:

* Excellent location: the Taipei 101 metro station is barely 5 minutes' walk away, with connections to all points of the city, plus Songshan and Taoyuan airports; there's also a bridge which connects to the adjacent Taipei 101 shopping mall, with a vast selection of dining (the basement food court is excellent) and shopping, albeit mainly designer boutiques
* My standard room was spacious, with thick carpeting, comfortable bedding, silky-smooth linen and plush mattress, plus silent air-conditioning and strong shower pressure.
* Grand 3-storey lobby which imparts a sense of occasion - similar to its sister properties in Bangkok and Hong Kong
* Free and fast Wi-fi in all rooms and public areas
* With 8 elevators, there was rarely a wait of more than 10 seconds for a lift.

Cons

* Very cramped gymnasium - split into 2 rooms - and limited selection of equipment, most of which is very old. Increasingly, travellers are fitness-conscious, and the facilities fall well short of what is acceptable for an international 5-star hotel, especially one which is a Grand Hyatt. The aforementioned Grand Hyatts in Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong excel in this regard. During busy times, there was barely any room to navigate around other guests in the weights room, and it was often awkward and stuffy. The heaviest dumbells are 20 kgs, which is pretty light for regular male gym users. The treadmills were noisy and "scratchy" when in operation.
* Small pool - particularly for an 850-room hotel
* Service at check-in by Sayumi was very robotic and completely lacked any warmth or eye contact, nor was my name used, except at the end. No explanation regarding facilities, Wi-fi username/password and the location of the elevators, nor any offer of assistance with luggage. However, Milla and Eliza were outstanding.
* Nescafe sachets seemed like a very cheap touch for such a beautiful and expensive hotel. Also limited selection of tea. No fresh milk, only 2 tiny sachets of creamer.

Due the hotel's proximity to so many excellent dining options, I didn't eat at the hotel, although I would be keen to try the Italian and Japanese outlets in future.

Would be delighted to return to this lovely property again, but I'll have to look elsewhere for a decent gym.

Since most hotels were booked, I was very limited in where I could stay at. We booked a few nights here. We had the rooms on club level. The Club Lounge was great since we didn't know where to go for a quick bite. Great views of the city! I was surprised that they even give you a loofah pad to wash your face with!
We had a great stay!

Stayed here for 5 nights for business. Had a room on the club level. Beautiful room great view. The club lounge was great. All of the staff and I mean all, are great! They are extremely helpful and informative.
The hotel is only blocks from shopping, dining, museums and entertainment.

It is located directly next to Taipei 101. A few malls, Breeze, Att4fun all nearby. Famous book store Eslite bookstore is also within 10 mins walking distance. A lot of food choices. Easy to get taxi.

Bathroom has been touched up with brighter lighting.
