The lodge was a 20 minute water taxi trip from Alder Bay Resort near Port McNeil, B.C..
On the way, we spotted a large pod of Pacific White-side dolphins churning up about an acre of water off the starboard side. This was my first visit, but it will not be my last. We found the rooms, staff, and location superb.

The nature guides are bright and helpful. The food is excellent. The location is enough... I did not need to be chasing wildlife sightings. It was plenty just to relax in the arms of mother nature for a while.

Room Tip: All rooms are exquisitely appointed for optimal nature observation.

From the day we arrived at Port Hardy, till the day we left, those wonderful memories will remain with us forever. We cannot thank you enough for the most amazing experience of our lives.

We saw some awesome sights - bears, eagles, humpback whales, dolphins - to mention just a few. The Lodge was so relaxing and peaceful.

The guides were wonderful - thank you James and Lindsay - great and caring people. And Tim for a most amazing and memorable last day of our adventure. Not forgetting Vicki, of course!. Kelli, it was good to meet you and a BIG thank you for all the help you provided with the booking.
.
Thank you to the all the staff at the Lodge - Matt (great, amazing food) and Keshia, and TJ. And we met the adorable pugs - Otis and Rhubarb.

We will be back - if you'll have us!! Planning another visit for September 2019.

To anybody that wants a great adventure in the hands of incredible and wonderful people, Farewell Harbour Lodge is the place to go. You will never want to leave!

Our three nights at Farewell was part of a two-week trip to Canada that included Toronto and Vancouver. Before my wife and I left, I said to family and friends that Farewell would be the highlight...

I was right, it was.

GM and co-owner Tim has created a fine quality base to see the amazing wildlife of BC. Humpback whales, dolphins and porpoises are just outside the natural harbour that is Farewell. Each day, we were brought out by knowledgeable and experienced guides (special mention to Vicki, Tia, Tjasa and James).

Getting so close to wildlife has an emotional effect; as well as those mentioned, we saw grisly bears, a black bear, eagles and sea lions. A truly unforgettable experience to see such wonderful animals in their own natural habitat.

The whole team made us feel welcome. The chef cooked excellent fresh delicious food including a packed lunch when we went off for the day.

We had two full days. Each of these days started with breakfast around 7.15am or so. We were down at the dock and away by around 8.15am/8.30am each morning and back for around 4.30pm, Dinner was at 6pm. The tables at mealtimes are shared with other guests and we had great conversations with a team from a First Nations workplace. There were informative presentations about wildlife and First Nations in the evening after dinner.

Our final morning saw us kayaking (don't worry, it's optional!) for the first time. We made the 3.5 nautical miles around Berry Island, which felt good. After that we visited the Whale Interpretive Centre in Telegraph Cove and the U'mista Cultural Centre in Alert Bay, both fascinating.

We loved everything. Our room at clean and warm with a temperature control. Food was excellent. We lacked for nothing.

Highly recommended.

BTW, they provided us with waterproof trousers, coats and boots when out in the boat, so you don't need to bring these with you if you're travelling. They also picked us up and dropped us off at Port Hardy Airport.

The passion for the area and the wildlife of Tim and all the crew was infectious. Very experienced, hospitable, fun family dining style, cabin rooms with a view to put a smile on your face the moment you wake up & and when your head hits the comfy pillow. Up close and personal with the wildlife is the name of the game and the evening talks really added to the experience. Would return in a heartbeat.

I spent four wonderful days here in September 2017. It is the most gorgeous place. The lodge is beautiful and the rooms very well appointed, great food and lovely, friendly staff. Best of all are the trips. Every day is different and full of interesting and exciting new experiences. Tim, the boss, and his wonderful staff work very hard to make Farewell Harbour Lodge one of the best places to visit. I saw grizzly bears and humpback whales as well as lots more wildlife, truly a dream come true!
