Shravanabelagola is sacred and famous place for Jains , Jainism , monolithic statue of Mahavir Bahubali is installed on top of the Vindhyagiri Hill, this is considered as world’s tallest monolithic statue. This statute of Mahavir has been dated back to 978 A.D.
Every 12 years once they perform Mahamastakabhisheka for the Mahavir statue, it’s absolutely spectacular ceremony.

It’s hot while climbing up the hill, I have visits during the end of February , I already felt hot during the climb, it might be difficult for the aged people, they also have porters who can help carry you to the top.During the Mahamastakabhisheka there will be lots of pilgrims visiting this place.

It’s an absolute peaceful place.I really enjoyed the visit.

It is a must visit for all travelers. This is more than 1000 year old statue of Lord Bahubali. This is world's tallest monolithic statue. 700 steps to climb up the mountain( budget for 30 min to climb. you must climb slowly.

There is a maha mastakabhishek which happens every 12 years. It is happening in the month of February.

Drive from Bangalore is excellent( <3 hours)-150km. Very nice natural beauty on the way. Good food joints on the way

Very good transport communication, good for adventure and heritage loving people. There are two bettas (hills) on both side of road. Main important is Vindhyagiri. Have to climb steps bare footed which may take around 45 mins. On top of Hill, very big statue of Bahubali (Shri Gomatteswara) is there which is worth seeing. On top of Hill, proper drinking water, food, Prasad was unavailable. Free entry. Another betta Chandra giri was comparatively lesser in height and attractions. These are under control and supervision of Archeological Survey of India.
