Vishnu and his family are great hosts, very friendly, clean bedroom and bathroom. Location away from roads and in amongst the backwaters. Sunrise canoe tour recommended.
Monroe nest homestay was one of our favourite stays in India. The experience is intimate and personal, we ate beautiful meals in Vishnus home cooked by his lovely mother. The canoe trip provided by Vishnu was spectacular, the sunrise was certainly worth getting up at 5.30 (I recommend you do it in the morning as it did seem to get cloudy and rain in the evenings when we visited). Another highlight was sleeping on a real mattress with real soft pillows! (A first on our India trip). I would recommend Vishnu to make a price list card for the room, stating meal prices, canoe and extras like water and extra tea. Thanks Vishnu for a great stay
My wife Victoria and I stayed at Vishnu's homestay as part of our honeymoon. Vishnu is super friendly and a great host. His canoe tours are brilliant and we did a sunset tour and a sunrise tour, which we highly recommend! It's a great way to experience the backwaters. Our stay with Vishnu was one of the highlights of our whole trip! His mum is lovely and cooks delicious homemade food. Ask Vishnu to try his mum's curried oysters - it's a must as part of your stay! The room was clean and comfortable and it's very relaxing to just sit outside and unwind. Many thanks for looking after us Vishnu! Adam and Vic
It was a pleasure to stay with Vishnu and his family for two days! His homestay is brand new and super comfortable, we recommend it without any doubt. Vishnu, his mother and his two adorable cousins are so friendly and welcome you into their home. It is such a great homestay experience.
In the morning he took us on his canoe and showed us the beautiful backwaters and an amazing sunrise. During the tour he proudly told us about his village and the way of life there. It was just lovely. Thank you Vishnu for the great stay!
Munroe Island is by far the best of all the locations for a backwater canoe tour. Super shanti, the quietest I've ever heard India to be, only the sights and sounds of eagles, ducks, children giggling, goats, cows and the noise as the paddle of your canoe hits the water. Munroe Rest Homestay can offer you anything you want and he will go out of his way to accommodate you. Even for a budget traveller, this room is worth it (if you consider how much you spend on tourist food and a room in other places). The room was spotless with the comfiest bed we've had in India. The home cooked food was so TASTY! Fantastic! Highly reccommended.
