We first stayed at Au Compte in 2005 and have returned several years for family vacations - just us, or extended parties where we booked the Grange and the Cottage and somewhat took over...
Our first holiday was when our three girls (3, 6 and 8) and the garden and pool have been wonderful sources of entertainment - as have the dogs.
The area is far enough off the beaten track to enjoy real peace and quiet yet has a range of days out to (Duras, Bergerac, Bordeaux) and some great wine country nearby. Local markets abound and the evening markets in the summer are great. Soumensac (Sunday lunchtimes) is not to be missed - just get there early if you want to sit in the shade of the trees. Our early visits were full of trips out to visit the Bastides and local towns but over the years we have stayed more on site and enjoyed the facilities of two great gites. The pool and garden are very relaxing.
We would strongly recomend the meal on arrival - a welcome repas after what can be a long journey.
Ideal place for a very relaxing holiday in a wonderful part of France.
