My girlfriend and I found Ophelia when looking for a place in the country side near the Bergerac vineyards. Shortly before arrival Barry and Vicki contacted us to confirm our arrival time and Vicki was there to meet us. She showed us around and was very friendly and welcoming. The cottage is an annex off the main building but still remains private. Inside the main room has a double bed and plenty of storage as well as a TV with DVD and satellite. It leads onto the kitchen which is well equipped and lovely shower bathroom.
Sarah and I spent most of our time alfresco as the cottage is set in beautiful French countryside. The cottage has it's own patio / parking space with a private section of garden too, with tables chairs and of course a BBQ. Around the back of the main building is the pool, this over looks and hills and valleys and you might see their horses walking past. Rocky, Shamus and Q are 3 very friendly horses that just add to the country feel of the place. Next to the pool is one of our favourite features, the veggie patch. Barry and Vicki were happy for us to help ourselves to any thing we wanted, and the onions tomatoes and pumpkin featured in a few of our dishes.
About 4 miles away is the town of Castillonnés, we cycled there each day for our baguette. It has a couple supermarkets and a morning market on Tuesdays. Perfect reaching distance for this essentials like wine and maybe some bits for the BBQ. Details of nearby towns are all detailed in a handy quite left inside Ophelia.
Ophelia is aptly named after their cat. She is the most friendly animal and always wanted to say hello. Barry and Vicki were always happy to help and were very good hosts indeed. Always laid back we felt very much at home at Ophelia.
