Visited the Garagista Craft Brewery again and this place is really great. Run by Steve Miller with his crafty hipster brewers and servers, the tipple just gets better. I was already a fan of their Pom Cider (made from local pomegranates) which has tiny bubbles and tastes like a pink pom champagne (if there was such a thing). This time there were some decidedly designer new flavours and they were all delicious! The pale ale is a winner with customers but I saw people also enjoying the Tears of the Hipster and Bat Piss! Sitting tasting you can see through to where all the action is in the brewery itself. Thoroughly recommended - and there are restaurants and craft shops and all sorts in the valley to explore as well.

Thank Lyndavan

Garagista is a small brewery, one of two, in the middle of town. It has a sign saying Hipsters and hamsters should stay away, but the welcome inside is a lot more friendly. R50 gets you the chance to sample 4 beers and 4 ciders.
The ciders were fruit flavoured, and three of the four were not really to my taste. Having been weaned on Weston's Cider in the UK, the drink should be a flavoursome, cloudy pint, with a kick like a mule. Garagista's is peach or blueberry or apple and finbos and would appeal to the very hipsters they claim to be trying to avoid. I will say that the Apple and Finbos was full of apple flavour, but would be best served, lightly chilled, in a delicate wine glass, rather than a pint pot!
The beers: a light and a heavier lager, an American style red and a pale ale. The light lager was, for me, also light on taste, the German couple also tasting agreed that it was not a favourite. The hoppier lager was better received, as was the American red. However, in my opinion, the Pale Ale stood out and was the best that was served by a long chalk. It had a hint of bitterness, and was full in the mouth.
It needs to be compared with Flagship Beers, which I did not do. But for a beer drinker Garagista is well worth a visit, as even the light lager is a lot better than the commercial brews that the supermarkets push. Cider drinkers, not so much.

Small local brewery. Friendly staff with a nice selection of beers and ciders brewed there. Recommended stop in to taste their own brew. Hipsters are not allowed.

Very casual, yet informative tasting. I loved all 3 beers + 3 ciders as a non-beer drinker. Left with a 6pack for a present.

Had some good laughs....amazing beer. Great vibe. Such a stunning small gem. The barman/owner was amazing. Had so much knowledge about the beers, it was incredible.
