This guesthouse run by the hospitable Kopke couple is well positioned in Riebeeck Kasteel within walking distance of most activities in town. The breakfast was exactly as ordered and tastefully presented. Our table was set on a verandah right on the street from where we had a perfect view of the town square.

I wrote about this superb guesthouse with photo's in June 2014, when we were in SA, but it was never published...........what happened TripAdvisor?

We were given directions by co-owner Dave Kopke on finding this gem by looking out for a pink Fiat 500, dressed a bit like a racing car named "Pinky"........well that made it so easy you just can't miss it!
On arrival we were made very welcome, in the entrance hall is an array of tasteful photo's of Dave's racing career.

We were booked into "The Honeymoon Suite " which has one of the biggest beds I have seen in a long time, the walk-in bathroom is the size of a lounge with chairs and table, huge free standing roll top bath and a shower that you could quite easily fit tourist group in.......which has all the ingredients for a honeymoon night........but perhaps not for rather more mature....... but a damn good laugh none the less, thanks Petro and Dave! The whole place has been totally renovated by the owner's to a very high standard ad it shows in every room.

If you happen to be a bit of a classic car fan like me, Dave will give you a tour of the many classic cars he keeps in the immaculate workshop and barn and not to be missed is his legendary Mazda R100, which he still races with much success after nearly 30 years.

On our experience, if you're ever in that neck of the woods, this is pleasure not to be missed!

My friend and I got a last minute booking at The Guesthouse as we were attending an evening wedding in Tulbagh. Although we spent little time at the guesthouse, the hosts were so kind and welcoming. The room was delightful and so peaceful. It was such a pleasant trip. I would definitely recommend the guesthouse to anyone passing through Riebeek Kasteel.
