Christmas Cottage has everything you need for short and long stays and is beautifully finished. The espresso machine, games and books are a lovely extra touch. David is a friendly host with lots of help suggestions. Would thoroughly recommend.
We were very very pleased with our stay at Christmas cottage, the cottage is excellent and the host David was very friendly and welcoming. So pleased to find tea, coffee and even milk for arrival.
Keep up the good work David.
We stayed here for 3 nights in early December, with two children under 10. My first and last impression, is how absolutely beautiful the cottage is - every inclusion, even literally down to the hand soap, is thought tasteful and pretty. Walking in for the first time in the early Winter evening, the home smelled of cloves and cinnamon, because the owner is thoughtful enough to have prepared everything down to the last for you.
This is not a criticism, just an observation (coming form Australia, where houses are generally relatively large), the cottage is quite small and with a larger family you had better be on good terms moving between rooms. But equally, this lends to the cottage's doll house charms (and, if I wanted to holiday in Australia, I would have stayed home!) The staircase is a little narrow and windy, I mention this only because less mobile or elderly people may have a concern.
Parking is in a secured private yard, shared with a few other cottages, including the owner. David lives in the compound and will come to say hi and offer any assistance or advice for the area you might need, was lovely to meet him. On the other side of the compound is a small convenience store, literally two minutes walk, for milk/bread/wine :) - there is a really good fish and chip takeaway within 3 minutes walk, an Italian across the road from that (we didn't try so can't comment), and the local pub, the Cock Inn, is under a 10 minute walk on the main road, we did this easily with two kids after dark and recommend.
Blakeney is a quiet little village on the edge of the Forest of Dean (picturesque even in winter) and about 30 mins drive from Gloucester. If you are interested in staying in this area, this cottage is a lovely place to come 'home" to, and wake up in the morning. Thank you David for having us
lovely place to stay with a little dog, nice & clean and very safe. We were able to walk from the village into the Forest of Dean.
Very friendly and helpful host.
Lovely cottage finished to a high specification. Had everything we needed as well as being in a very secure location.
Ideally situated for us to visit friends and family in the Forest of Dean.
