I booked into this pub/small hotel for a couple of nights while working in Bristol for a few days. I was more than pleasantly surprised. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very comfortable and both breakfast and dinner were excellent. Lots of fresh food and an innovative and interesting menu for both. Well priced for the quality of the experience and I can highly recommend to other travellers.

Called lunchtime for a quick refresher in hot weather. Smart pleasant clean pub with outdoor seating area at rear (some under cover), a large sloping lawn, and what looked to be a brilliant children's play area, also bags of parking space. Couldn't stop for lunch but will certainly call again if we're passing that way.

We were staying in a B&B nearby and the owners recommended the pub for a meal. We called in on a Friday afternoon and found it quite busy with locals and visitors. We had a very tasty, good quality meal served with well kept beer. The staff were pleasant and helpful which helped provide a comfortable, friendly atmosphere in the premises.
A nice pub indeed.

The day before a flight out of Bristol airport, the owner of the local B & B where we stayed recommended The Rising Sun and we were not disappointed. The bangers and mash were fabulous and the service very accomodating. On the day of our visit, Visa credit cards were not working and since we did not have any cash on us we tried to pay with Apple Pay. It seemed to work, but we were unsure if the charge had gone through. The kind manager was very gracious and we were ultimately able to settle the bill.
Nice place for family and a great meal. Also, there is a playground in the back for small children.

Started off with a great welcome friendly FOH staff greeted at the door, service was a good pace drinks ordered received in quick timing then ordered our starters and mains received the mains good price for the pork belly a little dry as wasn’t dressed neither the baby gem hoisin sauce as a dip but still belly pork and gem would have been nice to be dressed into the mains duck looked great tasted great how ever my partner had the ravioli which can at just under £15 was shocking 4 pieces of ravioli stuffing was no bigger than a £2 coin so basically paid 3.75 per ravioli unbelievable nothing else on the plate besides a huge handful of pea shoots to try and bulk the dish out extra portions of sides definitely needed dish couldn’t have costed more than £3 to create side portion of chips were ordered which was terrible pale undercooked looked like they had been part cooked 3 days ago discoloured service went a bit Down Hill when things got busy around 8:30 8-10mims for our table to be cleared and had to ask for the bill won’t be returning

Maybe trying to hard to go down the gastro route instead of focusing on good produce for good prices

Thank Luke S
