It is a pub and not a restaurant and as far as I know it has always been thus. The new owners, Chris and Karen, have carried on where Darren and Emma left off. Little has changed, perhaps the menu is slightly different and the 'specials' also. In a sea of change it was great to go back to a pub I love that has got it spot on. I'm going back in June - of course! Oh I forgot to mention the beer; I love Black Sheep and it was very well kept. Theakstons bitter and OP were also on offer as well as 'Muker Silver'.

First visit since it changed hands late last year and pleased to say its still as good as ever. Chris and Karen haven't changed anything - the interior, the atmosphere and the food all excellent not to mention the beer, still the best pint of Black Sheep anywhere.

We stopped for a lunch time drink on a walk. A very pleasant traditional pub in a nice village. We received a good welcome and had a good pint of beer

The Farmer’s Arms is a small Theakston’s pub on the main road in Muker - an interesting little village between Thwaite and Gunnerside in Swaledale, Yorkshire. We visited when the snow was in the fields and piled at the sides of the roads. There is only room for 3 cars in front of the pub, but plenty of parking space across the road, along the riverside.
We were greeted by a roaring log fire, plenty of seating and a friendly and efficient reception. Beers on tap included Old Peculiar, Guinness and a range of lagers. We had plate-sized Yorkshire puddings filled with Swaledale sausages, vegetables and gravy, and it was delicious. They have facilities for small children and the ‘facilities’ are spotless and modern. Recommended.

The Farmers Arms has long been our favourite pub in the Yorkshire Dales so when new owners took over recently we were worried that things might change for the worse. Thankfully that's not been the case and the Farmer's Arms remains a brilliant place for lovers of beer, wine and good food.
The previous owners have even handed over some of their recipes to the new owners, which is great because they were good recipes. Particular favourites of ours are the Latimer Beef Casserole and the Pork with Madeira Wine and Paprika Casserole.....oh and of course the Fruit Crumble of the day which has a slightly chewy shortbread topping that goes perfectly with the slightly tart fruit combinations such as Apple and Raspberry.
Mains are around the £9.95 Mark with puddings around £3.95 - so extremely reasonable. I am particularly fond of Theakston's Beer so happy with Best Bitter or Old Peculier which are always well kept. They also normally serve at least one beer from the Askrigg Brewery which is just over the hill in Wensleydale. The wine list is also good with a choice of reds and whites starting at about £13 a bottle.
Warm and cosy, a friendly welcome and dog friendly too. All in all this is still the perfect pub in a beautiful location.
