Had a 2 night stay in June to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary - what a good choice it was. From the moment Janey greeted us, we were able to chill and relax. We stayed in Nook, which has it own Private courtyard, Hot Tub and Sauna. Breakfast is also served to your room in the morning. Nook is absolutely gorgeous with it's vibrant decoration, stand alone bath with overhead shower, breakfast area and Lounge Area. The Private courtyard just added to the amount of space we had. We made full use of the Hot Tub and for someone who doesn't sit and relax very often, an hour quickly disappeared sat in the bubbles!!!! The room had everything you could want, with Juice, tea, Coffee, Milk, Cake, Fresh Fruit, Bread, butter all supplied. the breakfast each morning was lovely, with plenty to choose from. Highly recommend this place to everyone, for what you get to enjoy, the cost is very reasonable - you won't regret staying here.

A beautiful building inside and out with the most welcoming and friendly hosts.
Thank you for taking into consideration my dairy intolerance.
Yummy breakfast with lots of choice, great value for money, felt so comfortable and relaxed, especially in the gorgeous bed, I didn’t want to leave! Location ideal to escape the tourists and traffic.
Thank you Janie & Mike :)

We've just got back from a two night break at Lower Barns and it was a piece of paradise. You read the reviews on tripadverise and you think, maybe they can't all be true, but believe me they are! So much so, we have already booked again for next next year. If I could give 20 out of 10 then I would. Janie makes you feel at home from the minute you get there until the you leave, with a kiss goodbye to round it off. We stayed in the Cranny, and the attention to detail was wonderful. Your own private hot tub & breakfast is served in your accommodation, which is very relaxing. The Cranny is very private, your very own little domain for the duration of your stay.

We eloped at Lower Barns last week and it was exactly what we wanted - laid back and stress-free.
We had the cream tea package and stayed in the Hideaway and it was perfect.
Janie and Mike are brilliant hosts and couldn't do enough for us.
I strongly recommend Lower Barns to anyone looking to elope or have a small wedding.

Rachel and myself spent a wonderful 4 nights over the early May bank holiday weekend, having booked the Cranny suite as a Christmas present for Rachel on the recommendation of a colleague.

Janie met us on arrival and even though we were early to check in, showed us to Cranny which was already made up for us. The accommodation was superb, great facilities with hot tub in our garden, a kitchen area with breakfast bar, full size fridge / freezer, and a wood burning stove plus comfy seating in front of the stove. The fridge was stocked with fresh fruit, yoghurt, milk, freshly squeezed orange juice and chilled water. There was ice available in the freezer. We also had ample tea (Cornish Smugglers tea, English Breakfast, Earl Grey, assorted fruit teas and coffee (fresh ground) and a cafetiere, plus premium hot chocolate, a fresh crusty loaf and real butter in a proper butter dish. Plus ample crockery and glasses etc.

The bedroom didn't disappoint either with great space, huge bed, 3 seater sofa and a good size TV plus a basket of DVD's. Onto the bathroom, another huge space with a free standing bath, lovely shower space and plenty of storage space.

No understatement to say that the suite was a space a couple could live in, and significantly larger than many apartments. With it's own walled garden and a hot tub to boot.

The outstanding thing though about the accomodation at Lower Barns is the ambience, the decor, the little details and the beautiful shared spaces and established gardens. I'd urge anybody to look at the website gallery to get a feel and reassure everybody that the photos aren't from carefully chosen angles, everything really does look that fresh and vibrant and just plain brilliant.

Topping it all off, Janie and Mike were just superbly welcoming, and accommodating, even dropping us for the evening in nearby Mevagissey and offering to give us a lift to pick our car up the next day should we drive anywhere nearby and get a cab back after a glass or two.

Breakfasts were very high quality, with great ingredients plus a great choice (I worked my way through as many different as I could).

Everything felt so safe, secure and welcoming that we didn't really even bother to lock up our accommodation when we went out anywhere for the day or evening.

If you feel up to it, don't mind needing to be ready to jump into a hedgerow or at least breathe in, in the event of encountering a tractor, bus or campervan you can even walk to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Lobbs Farm Shop in about 30 minutes. And that's very worthwhile. We did it twice across the weekend.

Finally we had just about the most perfect weather you could ask for and my first trip to Cornwall and Lower Barns will almost certainly not be mine or Rachel's last.

Congratulations Janie and Mike for creating a wonderful weekend escape in a beautiful part of the world.

Damien and Rachel Xx
