Spent a great day learning all about the first discovery of humanity. Very informative and interactive, which makes it more interesting for kids too.

Nothing like learning about 100s of millions of years of humankind to put a single existence in perspective. Well worth the time. No need to hire a tour guide as the cave tour has its own guide and the museum at Maropeng is self-guided, but transportation has to be arranged. On the cave tour be ready for a cooler environment and a bit of time on hands and knees, not for too long, but some passages are quite low. Decent restaurant buffet upstairs at the museum.

I visited not expecting too much but was pleasantly surprised. Ensure you go through the visitors centre and visit the caves afterwards. Allie about 3 hours all up.Be aware that the cave has several hundred stairs and some low squeezy areas to get through. The guides were a feature, very polite, entertaining and knowledgeable.
There is a reasonably good cafe there but the coffee is crap.
A must do visit at a good price.

Worth a visit especially for budding scientists and children. As an adult I found the first 15min the most fascinating with the rest of the tour focused on children but very well done.
The setting in bushveld is very scenic and quiet

The cradle of human kind situated outside Krugersdorp of N14 Freeway a huge footprint for everyone young and old, was fascinated by the numbers of people here coming to exercise physically riding bicycles , running on foot and biking veryone mind his own business. I attended the BASA Business Arts South Africa award ceremony, which was accompanied by great music, performances of all kindly including theatrical. Awards were presented to business that supports Arts a spectacular event met some great personalities who have passion for arts and music. This was the 20th Anniversary. The area has great hotels, restaurants, walkways and lots of fun and archaeological importance as the area where the what appears to be the earliest life of human existence was uncovered in some caves
