“Exceeded our wildest expectations”
Reviewed 19 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We needed to get completely away and wanted hassle-free cycling and sightseeing as well as staying somewhere which was, frankly, a bit above the norm in comfort with plenty of space. Well, if we had to create Le Clos de Bel Air from our imagination we could not have done better. The location was absolutely in the heart of the region around Blois and whether you wanted to cycle a little or alot, attractions were plenty.

As for Le Clos de Bel Air itself, the gite is several workers' cottages brought together imaginatively next to a very nice house. Everything was generous, spacious and very comfortable and all in the best condition. What was an added delight were the hosts who were exceptionally helpful without being intrusive. We were particularly pleased to have had direct contact with the owners in prelude to arriving who provided us with various helpful suggestions and directions.

Then, when we arrived, we were greeted with fresh bread, butter, jam and a bottle of local (delicious) wine.

Le Clos de Bel Air merits the highest accolade and we happily award it!

“Spacious and comfortable”
Reviewed 16 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This is a spotlessly clean, comfortable and well appointed gite located just to the south of Blois. The hosts, William and Diane, are charming and very helpful. The groceries and wine on arrival were very much appreciated after a long journey. There is plenty to see and visit in the area. The local chateau in Cheverny is well worth a visit as is that in Valencay. We enjoyed them both as they were self guided and not too large, there is only so much Louis XVI furniture that one can admire before needing a glass of wine! Speaking of wine Cheverny has an excellent tasting centre featuring local wine, the Cour-Cheverny made with the local romorantin grape is very pleasant as are many of the other local wines; so much wine so little time. There are numerous good places to eat locally, ranging from crepes to a gourmet offering. There are supermarkets and shops within a few miles for almost every need. Wifi is available but the connection can be a bit hit and miss. William and Diane have a fund of local knowledge and offer a pleasant, ,comfortable, quiet place to stay. Thank you.

“Excellent base for Loire region”

A warm welcome from owners Diane and William, beautiful cottage in lovely grounds, drinks, milk, butter, fresh bread and delicious home made jam on our arrival, cottage was very clean and comfortable and hospitable hosts full of local knowledge and handy tourist information, they were excellent with our four young children (4,5 yr twins and 8) and made us all feel so at home.
Everything you'd need was available in cottage (inc washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and detergent etc) and nothing was too much trouble.
Our youngest left a toy behind and we were emailed straight away and was returned back to the uk.
We will definitely return to this lovely gem.

The Gite is set in large grounds and is extremely clean, modern and spacious.
There is a lovely private area for your relaxation and BBQs
.There is also a small swimming pool and a swings area for the children.

The Gite is well equipped with an ample supply of matching crockery, cutlery and glassware.
Mine hosts Bill and Diane are very friendly and helpful.
Should we visit this area of France again, we would not hesitate to stay with them .

There are many beautiful Chateaux in the area including the Chateau de Cheverny
This Chateau has an exhibition about "Herge's Adventures of TinTin," as Herge featured it in his works.
The attached golf course has an 18 hole course and a 3 hole course which can be played around as many times as you like..The 18 holes are quite challenging, with quite a lot of water.
