My girlfriend and I spent 6 days in Debra and Alan's lodge on Aore Island and I would definitely recommend this. I had spent copious time researching places to stay on Espirutu Santo prior to leaving. Paradise lodge seemed ideal as - a) it is nice and secluded, b) has the option of a sailing component to the holiday (something we had not done before), c) had a great prior review (see above), d) accomodation looked great in the pictures, and e) is relatively cheap compared to other hotels on the nearby islands.
The Lodge certainly lived up to expectations. It was lovely inside, in an authentic melanesian style. Very clean and very few bugs. Being able to prepare your own food was ideal, not least because you get to try some of the Santo beef. Alternatively, you could head down to Aore resort and eat there, which also had lovely food. Alan and Debra were incredibly friendly and welcoming hosts. They arranged transport to Santo island when we needed it (only 10 mins away) and arranged a great trip around all the sights on the island with Aaron - the best taxi driver on Santo. Our 1-day sailing trip was lovely - and gave us the chance to see the local community on Tutuba Island - fun tumas!
The views are fantastic from the lodge and the water is lovely. There is a nice long jetty and a small beach (although, for a day spent lounging on the beach, I would recommend a walk down to Aore Island resort for some drinks and relaxation).
Thanks Debra and Alan!

We spent a day on board "Divine Wind" with Deb and Alan and it was a real highlight of our holiday. The boat is superb: well maintained and comfortable with plenty of space for relaxing, enjoying the views and options to get involved with the sailing as much or as little as desired. Deb and Alan were great company and couldn't have been more accommodating hosts. We enjoyed a delicious fresh lunch with most of the greens taken straight from the garden. This was an absolutely fantastic day out and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Vanuatu. Deb and Alan are also very knowledgeable about the area, so if we had known in advance we would certainly have planned to spend more time with them and asked for their help in arranging other activities and trips. Top class!
