“Did the Job. OK”
Reviewed 9 October 2015 for a stay in September 2015

We stayed two nights at the Bothy, no one was at home when we arrived. Strangely no one called at all, whilst we were there. OK it's nice to be left alone, however a "did you find us OK" or "nice to see you, thanks for coming" would have been nice. We did see someone feeding the one chicken later in the day.
Everything you need for the duration appears to be in place, a can of fly spray would have been handy on the first night, the windows had been left open and our winged friends had moved in.
All the important things like towels and bedding were clean and fresh. Some other areas needed a clean up. I suspect its was because the season was coming to an end.
We did enjoy our stay and would recommend it to our friends.
The water out of the taps was a little brown (off putting) bottled water was supposed to be in the fridge according to the room inventory, but it wasn't, I suspect it would be fine, however I boiled it just in case.

If you are visiting this area for the Antique shops, forget it. The few we found were just junk shops.

The falls were by far the bet bit and well worth seeing.

Liked best: Killing the flies.
Liked least: The brown water, looked like sheep dip.

I am so sorry Lee arrived to find no one at home but sadly he didn't give me a contact number so I couldn't speak to him before he arrived. He arrived before check in time and was found by my son at 3.15 still sitting in his car. My son got on very well with them and sorted out the flies which had come in overnight due to the first frost as I had left a window open. Lee joked about the flies and my son was offered a cup of tea! He cleared the flies up while Lee and his wife had a short walk. So although I didn't see Lee my son had seen them and reported all was well.I understand about the colour of the water being an issue but it has been regularly tested and safe to drink. Ironically our whole water filtration system was re-done a week later ,the work having been booked for weeks! The water is now crystal clear at all times and the tests show it is of a very high quality as it is very pure ground water with nothing undesirable in! We could probably sell it! Every other guest has commented on the high quality of the Bothy interior and excellent level of cleanliness so I was surprised to see they felt it was tired. We always re-do decoration / carpets etc in Feb if needed. In our guest book they said they loved their stay and would recommend it to friends. They thought the waterfalls were spectacular . I hope I Have reassured any future guests. Please do get in touch if you would like to know anything specifically.

“Ideal retreat in the Dales”

What can I say? The Bothy was a wonderful place to stay in rural Yorkshire. Immediate access to walks along the river Ure, quiet, secluded.

Juliet and her family were very friendly and amiable but not imposing, openly accommodating but allowed us to enjoy the peace and tranquility.

It rained nearly all week but we still enjoyed the walks and in some way the rain added to the atmosphere of the place (one day we went to Ingleton falls and it made for a spectacular display).

Definitely a place we would visit again. Thanks to Juliet and family.

The location was lovely but you certainly need a car to visit the local villages as the farm is located a couple of miles out of the nearest village and there are no pavements as the road is very fast. It is secluded and the farm is very much a working farm. The Bothy was lovely and comfortable and the decoration is very modern and well kept. The scenery was wonderful having a view of playful lambs which was my highlight. Would recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful getaway.

My Husband and I have stayed here twice now. It is a great little retreat if you want to escape the rat race with your loved one. In a great secluded part of Leyburn this 1 bedroom barn conversion has it all, beautiful decor, log burner, great walks, stunning scenery and close to little towns should you wish to see other people. We were quite happy looking at the sheep, horses, dogs and wildlife.

Juliette the owner and her family are very friendly but not in an imposing way. If you want anything, you only have to ask.

Will definitely return again and again! X
