“Excellent, the Most beautiful House in the Most beautiful Valley”
Reviewed 19 January 2016 for a stay in October 2015

Calm and relaxing, amazing landscape (easy trip by car in the morning or evening to see the sun go up or sunset up to the Alpes if it is clear), easy to reach interesting sights or local markets, walking or cycle tours starting directly from the house or within a few miles away, house with private courtyard and private pool with beautiful view, Interior very tasteful like a British cottage in House & Garden - not to miss!

“Perfect base for a cycling holiday in Provence”
Reviewed 13 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

From the moment we drove into the tree lined entrance to this traditional Provencal Mas we knew this was the place for us. Bettina welcomed us and showed us around. Every room arranged with authentic antique furniture. It was built around a courtyard which soon became the hub of our activities. Preparing the bikes for the days tours culminating in the 3 time ascent of Mont Ventoux within 24 hours. Early morning breakfasts and late night candle lit dinners were also taken here . On rest days we toured the local wine regions - each very close and unique, based on their altitude in the local mountains. Days were finished off by swimming in the large pool at the end of the garden with majestic views of the " Windy Mountain" through the mature trees and shrubs. We definitely will be back and would recommend it to any bikers hoping to join Le Club des Cingles du Ventoux as it is only 10 minutes from one of the ascents or any other group that would like a quintessential Provencal experience. On a practical note there were plenty of bathrooms and separate toilets so important with a group of people. .

Liked best: the wonderful location, th egarden and views
Liked least: There were difficulties changing our booking from 2 weeks to 1 week but this was the rigidity of the Triadvisor system and not the owner

“Beautiful and tranquil setting for authentic Provencal home”
Reviewed 12 August 2013 for a stay in August 2013

We had a lovely week at the Rieufroid. It is an old house with character. Ideal for a totally relaxing break.

The pool has lovely views and is partially shaded by trees if you need to get out of the sun. We particularly liked the courtyard garden which is adjacent to the kitchen and where we ate most evenings. The house has four bedrooms, two each on the first and second floors. Each floor also has a bathroom giving flexibility of use for larger groups.

The owner has a separate house on the site and maintains very attractive gardens and is an attentive and welcoming host.

Malaucene, the nearest town, is a short drive away and has good facilities including bars and restaurants. During our stay we visited Avignon and Orange as well as some of the nearby hill towns. There are at least two long-distance walking trails that pass the house. Unfortunately the summer heat prevented any serious attempts at these.
