We picked the MAIA for our honeymoon mainly down to the all inclusive package and the private villa set up.
We weren't disappointed, it is truly beautiful and the staff are exceptional. Nothing was ever too much effort. For example I wanted white chocolate pain au chocolat, not a standard item. They made them for me the next day. Thats just one example of many, where the staff went above and beyond to look after you.
It's a beautiful setting, and the villas are put together very well with high quality furniture. The views are incredible, beds huge and comfy, good sound system, infinity pool...the lot. It has everything you need....and a butler!
It's not a cheap hotel, but it's good value.
The food was the best we had in the Seychelles. In general the food in the Seychelles is poor as it is all imported so it suffers during the travel but the MAIA found the best ingredients around the the kitchen team are highly skilled. Highlights are the sushi, red snapper, gnocchi and any of the curries. The only issue we had was having crispy food up in the villas, obviously being centrally cooked then transported to our villa via hot cupboard the crispness is lost. In the end we had the crispy stuff when we ate at the restaurant and when in the villas avoided anything that would deteriorate coming up. (We were in one of the furthest villas from the kitchen...)
The inclusive wine selection is of good quality for new world wines, there is less good choice for old world reds but wasn't such an issue in 30 degrees, as we mainly stuck to cocktails (excellent) and white wine. The French Chenin Blanc is extremely good.
We stayed for 10 nights, which we thought may be a little too long in what is a very small hotel resort, but it was fine and we found stuff to do each day.
Our room was close to the helipad, which by the end we found a bit of nuisance, I would ask for a room further away next time.
If we return to the Seychelles, this would be the only place we would stay.
