Visited on a rainy day whilst visiting the area and very underwhelming, took about 5 minutes to walk around the cave with very little to see or view. 2 of the 3 caves were closed for ‘safety reasons’ which may have added to this

We have visited Cave / Grotte before in various places in Europe and this one was close to our Villa so we decided to drive along for a look and it was very interesting. It's small but easily accessed as only 100 stairs and sometimes there are many more. It costs £4 per person (you pay for children over 12). There is also a small cafe with wonderful views. Worth the entrance price and its a great place to cool off in the heat.

The cave itself only takes about 10 minutes to explore although it is quite impressive. I would not say it is worth a visit on its on but there are a few other places to visit locally to Melidoni which make the trip worth while.

Thanks to trip advisor I knew about this fantastic place. To my mind this is so much worth to visit, when you are in Rethymnon or Chania area.
This cave is only one I did not hear anything about "in this cave Zeus was born". Amazing "interior", tragic history, magnificent feeling inside. About 15-20 min, 4,00 eur, but so, so, so worth it!
I recommend!

This cave is one of the best and unique caves my friends and I have seen. We were in awe when we went inside. The story is very sad, go and find out for yourself. The path will lead u with stairs, only some part is open.
