Spoke to Kostas at the front door a couple of times and looked in his famous book ... I have written in it now. We ate there on the first occasion, and this was Thanks to the charming Kostas, and couldn’t believe how fabulous the food was. Freshly made bread, warm and lovely made on site. I had Prawns and they were huge, delicious and very yummy. My husband had Chicken Souvlaki and he really enjoyed his meal too. I’m not able to eat deserts in the evening, but from what I saw others having, they looked beautiful. We promised to visit again, so a few nights later called in again. The restaurant is run by a family and they remembered us and were very welcoming. Kostas at the entrance made us laugh and my husband passed time nattering to him. Very professionally run, friendly place. Our second meal was Garlic mushrooms which we shared with the lovely bread then I had Keftiko and it was lovely and my husband had Pork stew which he said was fabulous. Would recommend this place to anyone wanting to experience a friendly restaurant serving authentic Greek food. With the special touch of Kostas the owner in the kitchen ... Thank you for our nights in your lovely restaurant

Ate here on our last night. The lamb here is to die for. Lovely staff and quick service. The food is reasonably priced and when in Greece you need to eat Greek so try the lamb kleftico

The mighty chef Costas could not deliver more flavour and quality if he tried. The food here just gets better and better. Massive portions with fantastic taste. Wonderful family run restaurant. I read a few poor reviews and was somewhat puzzled as to why as you couldn’t find a meal in Zakynthos that is cooked to such high standards and with such high passion. The chef , the staff and the lovely man on the door couldn’t do more for you if the tried. If you don’t go here then you can never truly say you have tasted true Greek cooking and experienced genuine Greek hospitality. Love this place and the family who own it . Will see you ( Costas , Sandy and family) next year .

It's hard for me to eat, I have an eating disorder. It's hard for me to go into a restaurant, I get social anxiety. Put the two together and we have a marriage of 99% impossibility. So when approached outside by a member of staff and "challenged" to come in and try their food you'd think I would be legging it toward my hotel. This was the first full day of my solo holiday, it had rained all day - maybe I was feeling cheesed off or maybe the gauntlet laid down (an innocent one) was enough for me to just, for once, to fight.
I'm glad I did. From the outside, whilst presentable, it may look a little tired - but the food in Peppers is worthy of the highest class of surroundings. Even the obligatory free bread while you wait is exceptional. Freshly baked, hot, flavoursome. You get three dips - olive oil, tzatziki and a basil & tomato one. All fresh, all delightful.
I had 'Chicken Peppers' - a house special. Cooked in a clay oven this was presented with perfectly cooked chips (just the right number), an exceptionally dressed fresh side salad, a wonderous rice salad and the main dish, a butterfly breast of chicken in a rich, creamy cheese & mushroom sauce. For me head/disorder there was way too much, but for most I suspect it would be a hearty & satisfying amount. The flavours though - just incredible. If I, with all my issues can say that, nobody could be disappointed.
I had one last challenge to myself and went for their chocolate cake. This wasn't just any cake, more like delicate sponge layers interspersed with rich chocolate moouse and coated with a rich chocolate ganache. It wad topped with a crown of whipped cream & a cherry and beautifully presented with chocolate caramel & whipped cream. To.Die.For.
The owner gave me a glass of wine on the house at the end, a lovely touch. 15 euros well spent and, even though my head has gone to bits, I will shout from the rooftops about Peppers in Zante.
Go there, be enthralled, it is Zante's jewel in the culinary crown.

My wife and I are staying in old Alykanas village,we walked into town to eat.A young man called Kostas, invited us in to his restaurant,Greek pepper. He wasn't pushy at all, very charming and informative, the bread came as normal; but this was different, it was hot straight from the oven and came with 3 types of dip.scrumdiddly umptious My wife had lamb gardener and I had lamb Kleftico done in a clay pot in the oven ,it came with a small side salad.,it was the best ever and after 20 odd years of coming to Greece that is definitely saying something, needless to say we are going back tonight
