Arriving in Tavira by bus from Spain, we were warmly greeted by Jean, who drove us around the beautiful seaside town and then took us to her lovely villa in a quiet and relaxed country village yet, just 19km from the busy Algarve Coast. The villa and its grounds were spacious, very comfortable and very peaceful. We especially enjoyed many relaxing hours in and by the fabulous pool, dined alfresco many mornings and nights on the side terrace or by the pool and explored the area in every direction. The gorgeous little white villages in the mountains were a short drive away, and the coast was another short drive where Tavira Island was a delightful surprise as were the many towns along the Algarve Coast. The inland towns of Sao Bras, Loule, Faro and Silves to name just a few were also a delight to visit.
A special treat was dining at the Estoi Palace Hotel one night after wandering around the beautiful hotel and its gardens. We also enjoyed spending time with Nuno in his bar across the road and appreciated the help he gave us in planning the rest of our time in Portugal.
In order to fully appreciate this lovely slice of the real Portugal a car would be a definite advantage in order to discover and appreciate all that there is to see.More
