“A stunning villa with Sun, sea and total comfort, a perfect relaxing break.”
Reviewed 15 July 2013 for a stay in April 2013

I had the pleasure of a weeks stay in Villa Aglaia. First of all what a stunning location with fantastic vistas including to the sea. The peace and quiet was fabulous whilst still being within easy walking distance of Gennadi town itself.
Villa Aglaia has everything you could possibly need for your stay, from cooking utensils to clothes washing, air conditioning throughout, a great plunge pool for cooling off and excellent outdoor eating area with fantastic custom built BBQ included. The lawned area is large enough for positioning your sunbed in order to catch the most rays, and there were 6 of these so no arguments about who gets the best seat in the Greek Sun!
On arrival at Villa Aglaia there is plenty of space for car parking including designated car space right outside your front door. The villa is immaculately kept and in top order and all ready for you to simply switch off and enjoy your stay. It is in a complex of buildings but its own position gives it good separation from the other buildings and superb airy views. All rooms are spacious and the bedroom balconies amazing with their sea views. Dining and lounge areas are great with plenty of space and creature comforts. Eating inside or out is simple to do through the location of the brilliant kitchen.
If you wish to walk into Gennadi town for groceries you can be collecting your fresh bread, fruit & veg etc within 20 minutes from the villa. Most supplies are available at the 2 supermarkets there is also a local pharmacy and bakery. Should you wish to explore the town during the day or in the evening there is plenty of literature and hand picked leaflets in the villa to give you names and directions for great food, local tavernas and bars - a couple of which have free WiFi should you need to catch up with the outside world! Gennadi town is very pleasant with a mixture of ages in architecture and a wonderful laid back community feel to it with young and old always smiling and greeting new faces. If you walk for a few minutes more you are on the pebble beach complete with a further two tavernas. If you decide to go a little further afield and discover more of what Rhodes Island has to offer then there are adequate maps and again choice leaflets to point you in the right direction to get the best from your stay at Villa Aglaia.
The villa in general is very modern with a wonderful Greek feel to it, spacious and very comfortable and literally has everything you would require during your stay including books, games and DVDs should you wish to have an evening in or entertain younger family members.
To conclude - a big thank-you to Alan & Suzi Clayton for a fantastic stay at their Villa Aglaia, in short look at the photographs on their website and what you see is definitely "what you get", Sun, sea, cool breeze and total comfort!

We are glad you enjoyed yourself. We have since installed WiFi in the villa and the whole village has benefited from the new street lighting.

“Fabulous Sea views - a Five Star Villa!”
Reviewed 19 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Myself and 4 friends recently returned from a weeks stay in this villa. It is situated in the quiet village of Gennadi which is about a 20 minute drive from the town of Lindos and about an hour from Rhodes town. It enjoys a wonderful location high on a hill above the village, commanding amazing sea views from all 3 bedroom balconies as well as from ground level around the lovely plunge pool. Being part of a very small development of only 6 properties and surrounded by rolling hills, it is a very relaxing, quiet spot to unwind and enjoy the sun...with the only disturbances likely to be from the odd passing goat!
The villa itself is beautiful and spotless and spacious, even for 5 people - Alan & Suzi have really tried to think of everything to make your stay enjoyable. You really do feel you have the privilege of staying in someones home rather than just any rental villa!
The village is quiet - don't expect a bustling nightlife..we didn't and it was perfect for us. The two main Tavernas - Sergios and Mama's offered a wide range of food and the two local bars were welcoming and provided a great atmosphere to enjoy your drinks. You are not made to feel like a tourist - just one of the village! However, if you do wish to travel further afield as we did on a couple of nights, there is a fantastic variety of restaurants just 20 minutes away in Lindos.
All in all we had a great time and would definitely stay again and recommend to others.

Liked best: The location of the villa with it's fantastic sea views.
Liked least: The approach to the villa up a steep unfinished road which may be off putting to some, but I understand this will soon be surfaced and the villa's stunning location more than offsets this minor point.

“Lovely holiday in a beautiful villa”

My Husband and I have just returned from a week's stay in the villa. We travelled with another couple. We are all in our late fifties.
To start with the booking process was easy and straightforward. The terms of the letting are clear and there are no hidden charges or extras. The owners, the Claytons are very nice helpful people to deal with and Suzi put up with all of my emails as we thought of things we wanted to ask.
As you arrive at the airport, don't worry if you haven't hired a car, there are plentiful taxis and they all take their turn to pick up .It is very organised. There is also a list of all the destinations at the rank so you know exactly what you have to pay before you get in. This was a concern we had before travelling but Suzi re-assured us and she was absolutely right. We did book our driver to pick us up at the end the holiday. He turned up bang on time.
The photos you see on the website reflect exactly what the villa is like. It is only three/four years old and has been thoughtfully, and very well fitted to a high standard throughout. The pool is definitely more than a plunge pool and was just lovely to slip into at any time of the day.
Don't take too many clothes, as apart from the temperature this time of year, there is a cracking and very easy to use washing machine, and the Greek sunshine is the best drier possible. You will also find a full oven and hob, fridge freezer and separate second fridge, dishwasher, iron and board, DVD's, books, a cracking outside BBQ, and, we thought the best feature of all, a very welcome and spacious open sided dining area off from the kitchen. There are sunbeds with cushioned mattresses, the pool is regularly cleaned -and looked after. There is a welcome pack in the kitchen. You get the idea. This is an excellent property.
The villa is positioned a little behind and above the village of Gennadi so the there is a wonderful breeze most of the day, and the views are lovely from just about any aspect of the villa and gardens. The villa is only five minutes or so from the village centre. The last bit of the walk is uphill but not too bad at all. Worth it for those views.
The villa is part of a small complex of villas, a couple of which haven't been bought. They are therefore un-occupied but do not let this put you off in any way. Villa Aglaia has a large corner plot and its position within the plot leaves you aware of only the views and open countryside beyond it.
The village of Gennadi is a proper small Greek Village. If you want a throbbing resort, go elsewhere. If you want to feel almost part of a real community, where people will still smile and say 'Kalimera' as they pass you, then this is for you. There are a number of Tavernas in the village - Mama's Kitchen is very good - and another couple on the beach - as you walk to wards them go the right hand Taverna -Antonis. Eugenie, the daughter of the house is great and speaks good English. The beach is another few minutes walk straight on from the village centre.
There are also a number of bars in the village all of which tumble out onto one of the main streets in the evening - they put up a small barier to stop the traffic so everyone of all ages comes out.
The local beach is shingle /pebbly but it is also well cared for and there are very neat rows of sunbeds and umbrellas for hire at 7euros per day. The two tavernas there look directly over the beach.
There's a good supermarket, pharmicists, a cracking patissierie, and veg shop in the centre of the village. You can get A WiFi connection at the beach taverna and in the village.
So our sincere thanks to the Claytons. We had a great time and will probably go back. Any questions feel free to mail me.
