River Bank Cottage near Whitby is a beautiful, comfortable cottage. Tracy was very welcoming and there was a hamper of goodies for us when we arrived and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. The river at the bottom was full of wildlife and we were lucky enough to see an otter and many birds. The fishing was good and the summer house perfect. Breakfast overlooking the river is a must. Nearby Whitby was full of places to see and eat at. Couldn't fault anything.
This truly is a wonderful cottage and is a credit to Tracy and Robert who own it. It has everything you need and more and such a delight in receiving a full-packed hamper of goodies on arrival i.e. milk, tea, coffee, sugar, butter, juice, chocs, wine etc and yummy cakes too! The summer house is lovely especially overlooking the river and it's so peaceful, a great place to relax and unwind. Everything is there to make sure you have a fabulous holiday of which we certainly did. Lots of places to visit in the area and beautiful scenery.
Thank you....hope to visit again one day :-)
If you are looking for a holiday cottage that's close to the coast and the North Yorkshire Moors then look no further, River Bank Cottage is the one for you. This idyllic little cottage with its little piece of heaven, ie the summerhouse, at the bottom of the garden near the river, is just so peaceful and relaxing. On our arrival there was a beautiful welcome hamper, cakes, fresh flowers and a bottle of wine, milk, eggs, butter, and lovely fresh loaf of bread, most unexpected, but very much appreciated. Tracy and Robert have thought of everything in this well equipped cottage to make your stay a most comfortable and pleasant one. An added bonus for the steam train enthusiasts, you can hear the steam train pass by on the other side of the river, bringing nostalgic memories from a bygone age, just bliss.
This cottage is extremely well equipped , clean and comfortable. Tracy had clearly tried to ensure you are made welcome with great attention to detail. To greet us there was a very generous welcome hamper and lovely touches like fresh flowers, cup cakes and chocolates on the pillows.. The cottage has a beautiful garden leading down to a summer house which overlooks the river Esk. My husband was delighted as he was able to go canoeing right from the bottom of the garden. There is ample off road parking at the rear of the property. The village of Briggswath is situated about 4 miles from Whitby. If you don't want to use the car there is a half hourly bus service from the village to Whitby bus station, and the bus stop is just a couple of minutes walk from the cottage. There is also a train service to Whitby or further afield Middlesborough. The scenery en route to Middlesborough is wonderful and Middlesborough has a lot to offer if you need a shopping fix. The little garden centre in the village , again just a couple of minutes walk from the cottage is well worth a visit as it has reasonably priced plants and also a nice selection of gift items. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would most definitely recommend this superb cottage. Thank you Tracy.
