Beautiful house with stunning views. Amazing attention to detail and genuinely cleaned to perfection. Parking area is a little snug as 6 cars share the space but each is designated to a cottage. The only thing that the website doesn't make clear is the Ewelands and Cowslip are semidetatched houses with the 1 bed retreats beneath them. Noise from neighbours was not an issue but as non smokers we did not enjoy the cigarette smoke from our neighbours each evening.

We spent a long weekend in Cowslip Retreat - lovely welcome even though the owners were away they rang to ensure all was well and left a wonderful hamper for me and a lovely hamper for my pets. The attention to detail in the accommodation is amazing - nothing forgotten and too many lovely little touches to mention. The view is super- the North Yorkshire steam railway runs along the valley. A few days to enjoy the luxury accommodation and drink in the view really recharged the batteries. Thank you Joe and Geoff for a super stay, can’t wait to come back with Bella and Berry.

Room tip: It’s not a hotel but pet friendly self catering accommodation

The village itself is quite quiet, but very well kept. The accommodation is one of 4 units in a 4 storey block the size of a very large house. Our accommodation was 3 storeys comprising 3 beds with 3 W.C.’s and open plan lounge diner. Whilst the property is obviously modern it has been sympathetically furnished to provide a contemporary but homely feel. As you can see from my pictures the house itself is fantastic. It far exceeded my expectations. On first arriving we were greeted with the smell of freshly baked bread in the bread maker, along with a hamper of local produce. Our dog Millie was also provided with treats and a toy to keep along with essentials for her stay. The cottage comes complete even down to umbrellas, Wellington boots and details of the walks to use them on.

I think the attention to detail can be summed up by the provision of cotton ear buds in both the bathrooms!!

Well done Joe & Geoff. You’ve raised the bar.

Beautiful cottage with stunning views over the Esk Valley. We absolutely loved this dog friendly cottage. Owners have thought of everything . They were also very friendly and helpful. The Ewelands retreat is the lower half of Ewelands House . The fixtures, fittings and decoration was to a very high standard and so was the cleanliness. Couldn't fault it . Superb place to stay . There is also a very welcoming local pub The Plough which serves very good ' pub grub ' and dogs are welcome .

Ewelands retreat a fabulous cottage for two.. A beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, luxury accommodation . The view from the property is wonderful. A hamper full of goodies. What more can you ask for on a short break.
