John and Valda were great - you couldn't ask for friendlier hosts! They gave us awesome advice for activities to do in the surrounding area which were all good suggestions. The road they live on is nice and quiet and you really feel like you're on holiday!

After changing dates a number of times (all handled very well from SRL's side) I finally made it.

Had a very enjoyable stay. Enjoyed both the Lodge and the town. Look forward to returning in Summer, as we picked a very wet weekend.

I would recommend staying there.

It was our first stay at Standford River Lodge, but i know people who have stayed there before and loved it. I have to agree with them Standford River Lodge is that little place where you can forget the world for a while. the self catering units have everything you need, and the little fire place warms the whole room up. we will definately be visiting again.

We spent a weekend at Stanford River Lodge and stayed in the Porcupine self-catering chalet. On arrival the host, John welcomed us and was very helpful with advice about restaurants and things to do in Stanford. The chalet is spacious and well-equipped with everything needed for self-catering. There is an inside fireplace and also an outside Weber braai. The view of the river and mountains are gorgeous. It can truly be described as a place of tranquility.

Room tip: The self-catering rooms are well equipped.
