My wife and I spent the long-weekend in June 2017 in The Post House and felt really well cared for. Nothing was too much effort for any of the staff members that we had dealings with - they were always cheerful, polite and extremely helpful. The breakfasts were amazing - I had the English on one morning and the Eggs Benedict on the other - these were served hot, without much of a wait and tasted superb. The range of fruits, cheeses, breads, jams and cereals available was also a treat. They also provided tea/coffee and light snacks both afternoons for the residents.

The room had everything that we required for the weekend – tea/coffee and a fridge, as well as a small “lounge” area with a separate bedroom and en-suite bathroom (with shower). The curtains in the bedroom were real “black-out” curtains, which made the room really dark, even in the day time – which was perfect for us !! The only negative for me was the mattress – it really was “bouncy” and if your partner moves, you will feel it – but this is a personal preference because my wife and I prefer a firmer mattress.

Even though Greyton is not very big, The Post House is ideally situated for all facilities – being close to Restaurants, Cafés and all Shops. It is also in a good position to do any of the hikes that are in the area.

So, would I stay at The Post House again – God willing – ABSOLUTELY !!!

We had just arrived back from Paris and needed to ground ourselves. Booked in for Saturday night with Rugby and dinner on the wish list.

Excellent rooms, standard is perfect and covers the necessary base. High quality products and everything not only works, it was well thought of. Breakfast was a dream and watching the big Rugby match in the traditional bar, fun.

They're in a transition phase between the old and new owners, so the restaurant is closed temporarily with the exception of breakfast.

The team working there were absolutely amazing. Friendly, professional and human.

Whenever my wife and I get a chance to visit the cape we always try make a stop in greyton. A beautiful town with a great atmosphere. We had a great lunch at the post house which was reasonably priced and very tasty. Service was a bit slow. But who cares? That's the cape for you, laid back and relaxed. If I wanted to be rushed with my meal I would've stayed in gauging... highly recommended

The Post House was recommended to us by my daughter and her partner who had stayed there 3 weeks previously, so we decided to make a deviation from our Easter Road Trip route to include Greyton.

As we were travelling with my elderly in-laws we booked two rooms at the Post House.

Our rooms were located in the corner across from the entrance to the Reception. These were accessed through a small foyer that had 3 different guest rooms opening into it, which made it a little awkward and not very private.

Both our rooms were very nice and comfortable, although the pillows are very bulky foam type - two are too many, but one not quite enough, but that's just personal preference!

Unfortunately, all 3 guest rooms that opened onto the small foyer also shared a very small outdoor sitting area, which had one small table with 2 chairs and was immediately adjacent to the small sitting area of a fourth room. We took two chairs from the garden area and sat at the table having a drink, meanwhile the couple from the fourth room also came out to sit at their table on the small porch, meaning that there were 6 of us sitting outside in close proximity. We were all aware of each other and tried not talking too loudly as to disturb the other couples. Luckily the third room occupants didn't try and sit out there too! The lack of privacy between the 3 rooms opening up into a small foyer along with the tiny sitting area for 6 was disappointing and not at all private or relaxing. There is however a lovely garden with tables and chairs which we decided to use to give the other couple some privacy and quiet.

Breakfast was a disaster.......my 'Full English' was served cold (not even warm)..........not once, but twice......so we gave up with it. I joked about it with our waitress, who was lovely, and handled the situation with grace and professionalism - we both agreed that we were both victims of major understaffing at breakfast!

The Manager handled it perfectly and very professionally and offered us a refund for the two breakfasts, which normally I would not accept as 'these things happen', but as it was twice and I was looking forward to it, I accepted!

We also took advantage of the restaurant in the evening and the food and service was excellent!

Room Tip: Do not book one of the corner rooms!

Dear Miwsa,

Thank you for your recent review of our property. Guest feedback is invaluable and allows us to better understand where we excel and of course where we fall short, thus allowing us to recognize staff who have enhanced the experience and identify areas where training and property improvements are required. I am pleased the manager on duty offered to refund you for your breakfasts as we could be forgiven once but I agree that twice is unacceptable. I do hope that when you visit us again you will notice improvements thanks to your feedback.

Wishing you safe travels.

Sincerely,

Jacqueline Leatt

Service that goes back to the times when hoteliers were concerned about their guests, not just their money.
A perfect welcome from a bright and cheerful reception, a guide to our rooms and an explanation on the way about the history of the hotel and its facilities al got the weekend of to a great start. The room was immaculate, warm, cosy, crisp and clean. Its so difficult to to try and be objective when just all you ask for is attended to with such good grace and speed. Sitting in the cosy pub my wife asked the young lady behind the bar if it was possible to switch the channel from sport to a particular program she wished to see, not a problem and switched at the appointed time. After that the restruant and our meal was just sublime, 3 courses each for my wife and myself and one only complaint to think of, the Napolitain sauce on the Penne was to thin. But even that minor complain is being picky really. Brilliant meal, brilliant service and a wonderful atmosphere.
