“A great place to stay - with great views”

Great views

The owners Steve and Barb were very friendly and helpful and seem to have thought of everything - including a very well stocked welcome basket. They were there to meet us on arrival and said they'd keep a low profile after they left, but they were keen to ensure that they were there if we needed them.

True to their word, we had an issue with the aircon not cooling properly on our first night and Steve got it sorted within a few hours.

The villa has a stunning view over Milatos and is light, modern and very spacious for two people, and very, very easy to just stay there all day, every day.
The large patio was in the sun all day (although there was also some shade)during our stay (late Aug/early Sept) and the sunloungers and chairs were very comfortable.

The villa is located more or less equidistant between Sisi and Milatos and unless you enjoy some serious walking in high temperatures and humidity, a car is a must have!

There are some really lovely tavernas a short drive away in both places which Steve and Barb will be able to direct you to.

A great place to stay - would highly recommend!

“Beautiful”

we stayed here for a week in the hieght of the summer- August 2014. The villa had almost everything you could possibly want from a villa, clean, modern, comfortable, pretty, relatively peaceful. We had a great time overall.
the only downsides are:-
You have to have a car

The air conditioning is on a timer from 9pm to 9am so if you were hoping to spend time chilling out of the sun it was impossible

Two other properties are within sight and sound of Milatos Heights, both have swimming pools, on a hot day hearing the laughter and splashes from these pools is envy-making!!!

The adverts for the property make it appear more isolated than it actually is

“Excellent accommodation in a traditional fishing village”

We stayed here for one week, and the communication with the owner was very good. Steve also sent us driving directions from Heraklion Airport which were spot on. A welcome pack on arrival, and greeted by Steve and Barb. They went through everything that we needed to know, and on the occassion when we needed advice, we rang Steve and he came straight to us (from his home next door). Very good wifi too.
The villa was excellent and had everything necessary for a comfortable stay. The views were amazing.
As we enjoy walking, we walked to the beach on several occassions. It takes about 45 minutes or maybe longer, as you can't help stopping to take photos and admire the wonderful views. We also ventured a little further on foot to Milatos Caves. It was a hard uphill walk but well worth it. Remember to take a torch! After visiting the caves, we continued uphill (steeply) to Kounali, just in time for the taverna to open! So all in all, it is an ideal villa to stay in if you enjoy walking.
We hired a car so that we could go further afield too. We visited Agios Nikolaos which was a beautiful place. We also took a boat trip from Elounda to Spinalonga (former leper colony) and I would recommend this, although it was a little difficult to climb the rocks.
We spent a day in Heraklion. I'd advise to park at the port for 4euros, and walk up into the town. It was busy, but had a very good market.
Another trip out was the Lassithi Plateau. The road is very steep and winding, so care has to be taken, but what a view! We reached the Diktaion Cave where Zeus was said to have been born. Donkeys could take you up and down the path, but we walked. It was very steep, but the views are worth it. The cave is lit with steps down and again to come back out. It was very interesting. I would advise wearing suitable footwear, and perhaps a shawl as it was chilly in there.
Overall, the scenery on Crete is absolutely stunning. For us, the best part was walking through the olive groves down to Milatos beach early in the morning and strolling along the front. There are several tavernas along the sea front, and we ended up eating at just the one (several times) which we found very good service and food. This was Kohili Taverna and their apple tart with yoghurt and honey was delicious! The food at all the places we chose to eat was excellent. The Cretans know how to cook!
The locals were all very friendly, and we also enjoyed walking through old Milatos village, you really should do this.
All in all, we had a superb holiday, and wish we'd have stayed longer!

“Modern, spacious with fabulous views of sea and countryside”

We had a fabulous week here towards the end of October. The apartment was spacious, well equipped and had plenty of room for sitting out on either terrace or balcony to enjoy the sun and scenery. Loved experiencing the peace and quiet of the rural setting whilst only being a short distance drive away from beaches and nearby towns. Would recommend Sissi for the restaurants on the waterfront; nearby Milatos (old village) is quaint and picturesque and we also enjoyed a drive into the mountains to historic Milatos cave which is definitely worth a visit. The owners Steve and Barb were very friendly and helpful and were able to give us plenty of useful tips and information about the island. Would definitely visit again.
