While staying at the Ras Al Jinz Turtle Sanctuary, we decided to visit the nearby town of Ras Al Hadd to explore and hopefully find local food (not hotel food). We stopped at the Al Fouz Hypermarket for some supplies and then drove the streets. We saw a couple of local cafes, mostly closed or without any clientele. We drove around the back streets along closer to the beach and noticed traffic at a café.
Al-Dar Coffee House is a simple shawarma café, with friendly staff and fresh juice. There is outdoor seating and a busy stream of cars driving up to get takeaway. We had ordered chicken shawarmas and lemon and mint juice, and watched the busy café provide. The food was local, delicious and cheap. Much more satisfying than hotel food and a fraction of the cost. We returned a second night and can’t recommend more. The town is delightful, but there aren’t a huge number of options otherwise.
