The location of Villa Mimi is perfect and was exactly what we were looking for, you simple walk through the beautifully kept private garden straight on to dreamy Beau Vallon Beach. The Villa itself has all the modern mod cons you could need and most importantly it was very clean a modern in style. There is a lovely plunge pool that the kids loved to play in. The Villa has a great garden with a large dinning space that we would have our dinners outside while listening to the sea. All the bedrooms have air con and the beds are comfortable and clean. The beach facing bedrooms have large glass doors that lead out on the balcony, we would spend hours sunbathing and watching the sun set go down over Beau Vallon Beach. The Villa has a home cinema set up that was awesome for our movie night!! All the staff were very friendly and super helpful especially James and Erlane : ) We are defiantly coming back next year, it was one of our best holidays yet.
This was my second time in Seychelles. Our vacation in general went well. However there are a few things that people should know. I will give a very objective assesment of the premises.
First of all Beau Vallon is a popular public beach. Therefore if you are looking for a private experience, this is not the right place to be. But this time we intentionally chose a lively environment, which is also very close to Victoria, because we wanted to do a LOT of fish barbeque (which we actually did thanks to James). So the other comment regarding the noise is just a matter of preference.
This is not the reason I am giving 2 stars however.
First things first the villa is located perfectly in Beau Vallon. Housekeeping was good, but not super. James, the local gardener/cook/handyman, helped us cook huge local daily cought fish every day on char coal grill.
Bad part of the story is that the villa, which is built only 3 years ago, is not in a good condition. Previous tenants used it very badly. Walls are dirty, furnitures are dirty, door handles are falling off, kitchen equipments are broken. The other villas in the same compound are in much better conditions.
The next big minus is the internet. It is based on a prepaid card system. Basically it is a limited wi-fi which keeps expiring and requires you to go buy more prepaid cards all the time. We spent a ton of money to keep 8 people online sharing their experiences on social media. Owners could simply have an unlimited subscription included for this price instead of this strange scheme.
Now the most important issue was security. At the beginning of the vacation we noticed some flip flops, shoes gone missing which we left outside. We didn't mind that much and started keeping things inside at night. However on the last day we were burglarized. Somebody actually climbed up the balcony and got into the rooms while we were sleeping and stole items from out bags.
The total damage was not huge, but you can image it was very dissappointing. If it had happened at the begining it woud have ruined our vacation pretty badly.
At this point I cannot recommend this location until all these issues are resolved. The location is great. Villa has great potential. Even with some broken stuff it would have been ok. But now with the security issue, I would give it a big caution.
And some additional information regarding Beau Vallon (not related to the premises). Water/Sand Fleas (or whatever species) are abundant and we were bitten a lot (they are certainly not mosquitos, although there are a lot of those too). If you are planning to travel here make sure you have a lot of repellant cream/spray. Also small jelly fish in the water causing serious irritation. I don't know the situation on the other parts of the island. With the global warming and all that, it seems jelly fish would be a serious problem all over the world.
We typically don't write reviews, as the good advice on trip advisor has been accurate and thorough. However, we feel a responsibility to inform other travelers of the noise and gas odor pollution we experienced at Villa Mimi. The house itself is lovely with wonderful staff, however the location is extremely loud and disappointing. The beach is crowded and there are several parasailing outfits on the beach running all day with loud motorboats and many jet skies. The beach smells of gas fumes and the outfits play unbearably loud music for much of the day. Also, there is a public access lot right next to the house where people literally party all night long. We tried to work something out with the villa management, but they claim there is nothing they can do, except call the police at 4am which we felt uncomfortable doing because of the lack of security presence on site. Ultimately, we regret coming here and wish we had stayed on Praslin, which is lovely, tranquil and the ideal Seychelles experience.
