I walked into the lobby of Hotel Concordia. I asked for an aspirin. I was not a guest. Suddenly I find myself in the lobby drinking on the house coffee writing this review. I was met with kindness, openness and the rare unconditional service.
With a background in hospitality and five years as a travel concierge - you get to experience the whole spectra of services - a variety of micro-interactions that can be divided into two categories: (roughly)
- The guest is the problem to be resolved, to be checked out, ticked off, outfoxed, and the less friction it creates on the way, the better.
- Problems can be solved, overcome, mitigated & resolved. With a smile.
