The Gutshaus is a special place - the current owners have done a beautiful job in restoring the original buildings and furnishing and decorating the house. It might not be for everyone though since it is primarily a place to relax and enjoy nature and doesn't come with conveniences that you would expect from a more standard top hotel, like mini-bar, TV in the room, concierge or room service. So you might have to retreat to the beautiful library to get good WiFi reception. But what other hotels have a well-equipped comfortable library with a porch from where you can watch a stork's nest with 3 young storks ? You get the picture. We had the wedding suite on the 2nd floor with lots of space for 4 nights The Gutshaus doesn't have air-conditioning which wasn't a problem during our stay since the nights were cool and you just opened the window in the evening. It might be a problem during the rare hot German summer days and if you stay on the 3rd floor. Other nice features of the Gutshaus are the possibility of getting bikes (which we did one day) and the good advice for day tours you get from the friendly owners and staff. A great benefit is the outstanding restaurant where we had breakfast and dinner every day. We had some 3-course and one 5-course dinner and every single course was special and excellent. Truly some of the best food we ever had in Germany outside of Italian restaurants and it is all locally sourced. Also the wine list is quite good.

This is excellent place for relaxation and for festivities. Located just 800 meters from biggest lake in northern Germany Muritz. Which even in November were full with birds to watch. I could imagine how incredible it looks in summer. Rooms are nice and cosy. The special thing that hotel is in old manor house which is built in 17th century and is nicely renovated. In main floor is restaurant with very good cuisine.

We booked a room for three nights in the main house second floor but where put in a side building due to a wedding group occupying the Hotel. When booking I did not see any hint that they have de facto no internet, no TV on the room (during Euro 2016), no minibar on the room. They put a TV on Request with the size of a Notebook screen. The room in the side building was spacious but not comfi. The bath was a desaster. Nice Sauna but a tiny fitness area and NO Yoga Classes as mentioned at the homepage. The Restaurant is superb. The breakfast good but not comparable to the quality of the dinner.

Room tip: Main House might be better. Side building not to be suggested

We decided very short term on a 4 days special arrangement at the Romantik Hotel Gutshaus Ludorf.
It was a very good choice. You have to decelerate there. The setting was beautiful very close to the Müritz, you could see the lake shining through the adjoining trees. It is an 800m walk to the banks of the lake.
The house is an authentically restored mansion originally built in 1698. Each room is individually furnished (comfortable and beautiful) and without a tv !( However is available on demand). We had time and leisure to read a book in the evening after long hikes or a day long bike ride we took the last full day we had there.
Breakfast was a very good country style breakfast with a completely different recipe for Bircher Müsli, homemade jams, homemade honey, cheeses, meats, boiled eggs and eggs cooked to order and on it goes.
We had 3 and 5 course dinners hich we enjoyed. The food was freshly cooked from regional products and a daily changing menu.
The whole area is very interesting if you care for mansions, castles, large farmhouses around every corner and all waiting to be bought and restored.
What can I say... It was stress free, thoroughly enjoyable, the hosts Achtenhagen and their staff were very forthcoming and helpful. Herr Achtenhagen is very knowledgeable on the history and architecture of the area and always ready to share his knowledge if you are interested.
We can hghly recommend the Gutshaus Ludorf for a quiet , authentic, relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The hotel is exceptionally well located amidst nature and friendly neighboring residential areas. The old "Gutshaus" is renovated to highest standards, yet maintaining its original simplicity and style. It enjoys a giant park rolling straight into the beautiful Müritzsee sanctuary. Add to that an amazing staff. reasonable prices and one of the best cooks in the region and you should be extremely happy if you manage to book a room for your stay in time.

Room tip: Highest quality beds in all rooms and extremely quiet surroundings
