Plenty of wildlife, private waterhole outside camp.

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 18 Oct 2024
I am a seasoned traveller. I have a background in the airline, hotel, and travel industry. I changed career becoming a business owner within hospitality. I have about 500 posts on TripAdvisor. They all concern private travelling, for which I have paid.

My trip to Botswana is private. I have worked with Ms. Maruska Adye Rowe – Expert Africa on the bookings.

I booked 3 (three) nights at each of four camps:

Camp Kalahari – Natural Selections
Linyanti Bush Camp – ABC
Selinda Explores – Great Plains
Camp Kanana – Ker & Downey – booked 22 – 25 September, left in 24-hours. See review under the camp’s name.
I stayed two nights at Grays Eden in Maun at the end of the tour.

This report concerns Linyanti Bush Camp
I had booked 3 nights. At the time of my booking 3 nights included an airstrip to camp helicopter transfer as well as a 20-minute scenic flight. Flying helicopter over the camp area is just stunning, you have the choice of flying doors on or doors off.

Arrival
I was greeted by a kind host who took me through formalities. She informed me of camp times:

05.30 – wake up
06.00 – breakfast
06.30 – departure morning tour
11.00 – return from tour
13.00 – lunch
16.00 – high tea
16.30 – departure for afternoon tour
19.00 – return
19.30 – dinner

Meals were taken with other guests and some staff members at a long table. I like that, I enjoy meeting likeminded travellers.

On a personal note, I much prefer bush breakfasts. I love getting out early as the wildlife has a routines early morning “when waking up.” Breakfast is taken outside by the firepit.

INTERNET shed
Internet is available in a shed outside the main area. There is a terrace with chairs.

WILDLIFE
The purpose of a safari tour is to see wildlife. There is wildlife in abundance here. There is a waterhole just outside the main camp area, and there is all the wildlife in the areas around the camp.

I enjoyed time with my guide. The first three tours, we did alone, then new guests arrived and joined us. We enjoyed wildlife in abundance, no need for “searching.” There were lions in the area, one lioness with four cubs, and one lioness with two cubs. The guides communicate well and to the advantage of all camp guests, hence we also identified to sets of two mail lions.

Elephants come close to camp at times, so did a leopard. One morning we saw the pawprints. Of course, we all looked for the leopard on the tours, it was hiding. However, after sunset in the evening, it simply turned up right outside the camp by the waterhole.

TENTS
I like tents with wooden floors. You also get very spacious tents, large bathrooms, tea tray and plenty of thermos bottles with water. The light setting is good, also if you enjoy reading in bed.

Laundry is done to perfection on a morning to evening service.

Wildlife in abundance and great varied nature is what you get in this camp.

Enjoy.

I stayed at a beautiful scenic camp during the summer season. Despite the heat, the management service and food were excellent. I had absolutely no issues at all. All the staff exceeded my expectations. In addition to the availability of standing fans in the rooms with large, comfortable beds, the rooms were truly relaxed. In conclusion, the safaris, food, and management made my trip to this camp a 100% success. I will choose this camp for my next stay at Linyanti Concession.

Room tip: Please remember to wear boots when visiting this area. The sand can become unbearably hot to walk on during the hot or wet months.

We arrived at Linyanti Ebony Bush Camp and was greeted by a singing staff. The experience was amazing here. Christina was our host and our guide was Kaizer was fantastic. We stayed in unit 8. The unit had a wonderful deck looking out on the concession. Wonderful bed indoor shower/ sink and toilet. was very comfortable and we loved the atmosphere here. Internet access was available at the little store that is situated between their 2 Linyanti camps. We had morning and afternoon/evening game drives. Breakfast buffet every morning before the drive and was served out on the deck around a lovely little fire. afternoons we had lunch out on the deck and then siesta time to rest up before the afternoon. Afternoon tea before the game drive with wonderful little snacks and tea. Evening dinner also served on the deck. The food was wonderful. Christina the host was on top of her game always there to answer questions and help in anyway. Water bottles were supplied for the drives and in the cooler morning blankets. We always stopped for either tea in the mornings with little snacks provided by the guide and evening we had cocktails to watch the sun set before returning to camp. The camp is close to Chobe National Park so we had the chance to go inside the camp for one of our drives. We saw amazing things. Lioness with cubs chowing on a cape buffalo kill. A panther with a monitor lizard kill. Kudu, impala, Lechwe, elephants, zebra, giraffe, wart hogs, baboons, hippos, Multiple birds including 3 types of Eagles, waterbuck, cape buffalo. The list goes on. Our Guide Kaizer was fantastic I would highly recommend him. He was full of knowledge and found us everything we asked for. We stayed for 3 nights and then on to Kwai Lediba which is another African Bush Camp. When you stay within there camps they transfer you by helicopter which was amazing in itself. The service was A+++ attention to detail was second to none. I cannot say enough about the location and the staff if your thinking of going on safari this should be number one on your list. Their website shows good representation of the units and the camp so they are a great reference. See my next review on Kwai Lediba. Thank you to the entire staff for an amazing experience.

Room tip: winter is cold in the mornings and nights bring a coat had gloves.

Staff and manager/host , food, service—excellent 10+; laundry service available each day. Internet available at the trading post-short walk.
Cabin/tent/room excellent (no heat and no ac-most important to bring warm clothes for night/sleep and morning game drives). Not allowed to walk or be outside cabin at dark without escort.
Shower and toilet indoor/private. All water is not potable; potable water made available in room.
Outside common Plunge swimming pool
Game drives each day/twice; very well managed by guide.
Access also to a national park protected and managed by the government.
Game drives excellent; lots of game; the guide, Kaizen- is excellent and knowledgeable. The game vehicle is in great shape and comfortable but there are a lot of bumpy roads/trail.
Went during start-winter and dry season-good time to go.

Room tip: take warm clothes for cold nights

Wonderful camp that is very comfortable and yet you experience the true nature experience. We had animals right around the camp that we were able to experience in complete safety due to our experienced guides and camp staff members. We did a bonus helicopter viewing which was wonderful, but the best part were the many morning and afternoon game rides in the Land cruisers with experienced guides who showed us so much. We saw Leopards, Lions, Elephants, wild dogs, hippos and so many more animals and birds. We went for a canoe ride and saw elephants and a hippo from water level which we will never forget. Amazing guides James (007), and Chester made the experience a once in a lifetime treat. Can’t wait to go back.
