The country house is very peaceful and clean. The pool is lovely and the views are nearly 360 degrees. On a clear day, the sea is visible from the terrace. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I arrived late on check-in and was still catered to. The area is lovely and there are restaurants very close by that work with Il Poggio. The room, Il Sarto, was a nice size and decorated nicely overlooking the terrace and pool below. The bed was quite hard however, and the shower wand was basically useless, trickling water out. There is not a shower that North Americans may expect. I was gifted a small bottle of Pistachio liqueur when checking out. Overall it was a lovely and memorable stay in a breathtaking setting.

We stayed for 5 nights at Il Poggio. What a wonderful place it was...:
Nice and clean bedrooms with good beds, great swimmingpool with beautiful view, very relaxing. All very well maintained and clean. We made use of the breakfast twice but also made our own breakfast, lunches and evena diner on one of the great terraces, watching the sunset over the mountains...

Very friendly, polite and helpful staff; an issue with the airconditioning was followed up adequately. Good restaurants in the neighbourhood (Il Borgo or Monarche) and with Taormina only 20 minutes away, even more possibilities for drinks and great food.
Il Poggio is definitely a place for a nice and relaxing holiday!

We stayed at il Poggio for a week and it exceeded our expectations in every way. The apartment, staff and shared areas (such as the pool) were spotless and it was in general very cozy and beautiful. The staff was very helpful and made us feel like we belonged and they furthermore assisted if we needed tips for seeing the island or needed tips for how to get from A to B.
We had some difficulties with the Wifi, but the staff helped the best they could. I would recommend to rent a car as it can be dangerous to walk next to the roads even though there are plenty of good restaurant nearby.
We will come back some day and if you go to Sicily I’m sure il Poggio will be a good basecamp for your visit.

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights at the begining of October, on our first ever visit to Sicily. After a 3.5 hour drive from Palmero airport we arrived with the help of a local who we followed straight to the entance. What a beautiful setting, check in was quick and the lady on reception ( who spoke a little English) did her best to answer our questions. We were shown to appartment number 5 ( only 6 rooms on site) It was a large spotlessly clean appartment with good size bathroom, kitchen, diner, living area and then a large bedroom all decorated in an ornate Italian style. We found the local town and had a pizza takeaway the first night, made fresh to order and baked in a tradtional pizza oven for 6 euros. We had a fantastic coffee sat on the terrace watching the sunset.
Breakfast the following morning was laid out with an array of local goods, a great start to the day, as mentioned before the coffee is fantastic.
As we were only here for 4 nights we did not get chance to use the pool as we were too busy looking at the sights.
The only thing that was slightly annoying, was every evening we had an invasion of centipedes which my partner carefully collected and put out in the grounds. We solved this by putting a towel at the bottom of the door where there was a slight gap. On the whole a great stay and would certainly return!

Difficult to find fault with anything. The thunderstorms were spectacular! I'm sure there were about four around and I think we had 2" rain. Weather in mid October around 28 degrees. Staff could not have been more helpful and charming. Quite a steep walk up from the car park, (after a long day walking around some of the sites, a minor challenge).
Taormina is charming, the street sellers less so. We stayed two weeks, on reflection, when we visit Sicily again we'll stay in different places for a few nights so we can see more of the island.
