This was our first visit to Colony Club, as a friend had recommended we try their Sunday lunch.
It is a large property, and the restaurant is a fair way from the car park. However there is another entrance nearer the restaurant for dropping off and picking up only. We walked past tennis courts, pools, and gardens, only stopping to make sure we were on the right track. The restaurant is adjacent to pools and gardens and there was some steel band music - not up to mariachi standard, but the ambience was good.
Sunday lunch was a wonderful buffet, and we would advise arriving around 12.45 to 1.00 p.m. to get the full benefits.
For starters, I had a couple of giant prawns from the BBQ station, with a few more shellfish and salad.
For main course I had large slices of the pork and beef joints, with Yorkshire puddings, gravy, and vegetables - try the BBQd asparagus.
For desert I had a vanilla creme brûlée, then went back for cheese.
The cost was BBD 130 each, which I believe is good value. You could drink tap water to keep costs down - It tasted as though they have charcoal filters but I can’t be sure. There is also a good wine list. Always bear in mind that many of the locals like sweet wine - just as we did in the heyday of Chateau d’Ychem - so be sure to check sweet or dry before ordering.
There were some local diners on the day we went - always a good sign in Barbados.
We plan to visit again with relatives including young children, so will most likely report on how this goes.

Stayed at Colony Club for two weeks from 21 May. This was our second visit to this hotel but have stayed with Elegant Hotels 11 times previously. The prime purpose of the visit this year was for our son’s wedding and, given that the choice of hotel was based solely on our recommendation, we had a few anxieties when we learned of management changes and the fact that there would be “extensive”roof repairs for almost the whole of our stay.

These anxieties proved to be unfounded! Management changes appeared seamless, apart from new names and faces but staff throughout the hotel seemed happy, well motivated and efficient and they interacted well with all guests. One noticeable change was the successful introduction of a policy to overcome the eternal problem surrounding sun bed “reservations”. Congratulations to all concerned!

The wedding itself was fantastic! Our daughter in law had liaised extensively with Karene, the Guest Relations Officer, who coordinated all arrangement admirably.

Whilst the wedding party was only small (10 adults and 2 children), everyone appreciated all that the hotel had to offer - the accommodation, the beautiful, well maintained gardens and pools, the food, water sports, water taxi and last, but certainly not least, the wonderful staff. Thanks to all concerned and a very special mention and thanks to Joanna Roterberg, the new General Manager for all that she did personally for us.

We will return!

Great Food - from grill to carvery to deserts; also very good rum sours. The "Old World" high ceiling dinning area was a nice touch. We live in Christ Church - another planet vs West Coast :) We have been told that it was excellent food and good value - which it was.The best though was the service - really pleasant - had a very laid back afternoon. Locals and Hotel guest mix. We will be back.

Service poor. Staff took little notice of requests for certain foods. E.g. we asked for soya milk several times and the staff brought cows milk instead which we found out after drinking it..This led to allergic reaction, that lasted until our return to the UK. This is worrying if you have a severe nut allergy.

Bed sheets don’t fit the bed so you’ll be up at night remaking the bed.

No usable dressing table and mirror.

Espresso machine in the room unusable as cups provided don’t fit.

Requested cups to fit Espresso machine and an extension lead for hair dryer, our repeated requests were ignored.

Service and attention to detail worthy of two star rating.

Note, management sympathetic and make all the right noises but nothing really changes.

Dear Alison M,

Thank you for taking a moment to share your feedback following your recent experience at Colony Club. Firstly, I do apologize deeply for all of your concerns encountered as this was certainly not the experience that we wished for you to have. We take our guests nutritional and dietary needs very seriously and typically provide dedicated and personalized options during mealtime, and to hear that this was the exact opposite of what you experienced is deeply disappointing. Please note that this has reached our best attention and we will revisit our service to ensure this never repeats itself.

We are very sorry that the rest of your holiday was not what the typical Colony Club guest experiences, either. We hope that our guests rest well in their spacious accommodations, partake in our complimentary water sports, be spoiled with sweet treats from the beach and pool ambassadors, as well as lounge tranquilly by our lush pools. We do hope that these issues have not left an indelible mark and that you will consider a return trip to our hotel at some point in the future. It would be our honor to demonstrate to you our commitment to continually improving the guest experience.

Warmest Regards,
Maggie L.

Beautiful if you like nature. Lots of birds. Monkeys. Tropical forest sounds at night. Nice breakfasts. Nice, but somewhat standoffish staff - service is okay, but not great (it's British colonial you see). Restaurant somewhat overpriced. Bartenders didn't chat to patrons much at all. Not much to see within walking distance, after you've walked the beach to the left, and then walked the beach to the right. The whole place was quiet and everyone gone to bed by 9pm. Maybe it was the time of year. Relaxed but somewhat sedate.

Room Tip: Pool view is a good choice.

Dear Bailey544,

Thank you for sharing your feedback regarding your recent stay at Colony Club. Our team is happy to know that, for the most part, you did enjoy your stay with us and that you were able to relax in our tropical and lush atmosphere. Hopefully you had the opportunity to take our garden tour and that you were able to taste the fresh ingredients used in a variety of our dishes in our restaurants that came straight from our property. Perhaps you even had the chance to sip on our rum punch that is made in-house! Regardless, we are glad that you were able to explore our fabulous beachfront location and enjoy the Bajan sunshine.

We hope we are able to welcome you back to paradise in the very near future.

Warmest Regards,
Maggie L.
