We are a Norwegian family, two grown ups and two children (13 and 15). We had never been in Kenya, nor Africa. We arrived in Mombasa after a relatively long journey. After a Taxi ride arranged by Kaskazi we arrived safely in paradise, An extreamely welcomming and friendly staff took care of us during the whole stay. The owners Hariett and Eilif had adviced us on activities (locally and far away) during our 13 days stay - it was great! Listen to their advices - they have lived in Africa for a long time! We had our best vacation ever - we learned a lot, got new perspectives on our exictens in Norway - and experienced a Safari in Masai Mara for 4 days (also arranged in full by Hariett and Eilif) - really spectacular!

I have travelled extensively in Kenya, and can honestly say this beach house is an extraordinary experience. Only a short half hour from the hectic and busy beaches of Tiwi and Diani, you can stay here in this calm, beautiful and charming location. The staff are all excellent, the food very tasty and healthy, with fresh and local food being used. The rooms are nicely furnished, and although some travellers might miss an AC, I prefer to use fans, so I did not mind at all. The peacocks and rich variety of birds and animals that live on the large premises adds that little extra to the whole experience, and that property has many beautiful plants and trees. The closeness to Diani means that you can still access the nightlife and more restaurants easily, as well as shops and golf - getting the best of "two worlds". It really is a special treat (and a blessing to not have to live in Diani with the nagging sellers on the beach and the noise) and I would hope to go back one day.

A typical day on our holiday at Kaskazi Beach House began with waking up to the sound of peacocks and parrots, before walking barefoot down to the beach or the pool to take a morning swim. The house is located next to the beach and only a short walk true the garden took us to an amazing beach and the Indian Ocean. We then got served coffee or tea at the edge of the pool. Breakfast was served in the garden with fresh fruits, omelet and toast. The Beach House has an Arabic style and is surrounded by an incredible garden full of fruit trees, flowers, pieces of art and exotic birds. The house itself is beautiful and every room is decorated differently with carved poster beds and local art. After breakfast Kaskazi Beach House offered many different activities, we went on bike rides in the local villages, snorkeling on the reefs, deep sea fishing, safari in the national park, long walks on the beach and sailing in local wood boats, in addition to a lot of leisure time around the pool:) Kaskazi offer a great variety of both relaxation, experiences of African nature and learning more about the surroundings in rural Kenya. The location of the Beach House is also a vital part of the experience, far away from all tourist and city areas gives the unique possibility of enjoying the calm and peaceful surrounding areas! Lunch and dinner was also served in the garden from an amazing staff who really contributed to making the holiday an exclusive experience. The food is of high quality, healthy and entirely made from local products. Together with very hospitable hosts who really went that extra length to make our visit amazing, Kaskazi Beach House created the setting for a holiday in paradise! I would really recommend Kaskazi Beach House for everyone who dreams about that perfect holiday in Africa!

Kaskazi House in Msambweni is one of those hidden gem that is becoming increasingly difficult to discover. The setting is fantastic: lush gardens right on a white sand beach in Msambweni, a place that is like Diani Beach used to be 20 years ago, and a beautiful house run by genial hosts Eilif and Harriet, with an amazing pool and a proper Italian pizza oven! The rough road that takes you to Msambweni, a bit bumpy, is also a road that takes out to a different world, where there are no beach boys (yet!) and no mass tourism. The moment you come in you understand that this is the private refuge of an elegant, intelligent couple who have made Kenya their home (jn addition to Norway). If you are looking for nightlife and shopping, this is not for you. But if you are looking for one of the last wild beaches in Kenya in a very private setting, Kaskaki House is definitely what you want. I'm looking forward to go back and enjoy this tropical swahili dream. Thank you Eilif and Harriet for sharing it with us!
