Lovely hotel with little noise and quiet beach for a relaxing break. Not for partying though, or if you want nightlife, unless you factor in taxis at 400 to 500 B each way.

We spent a week near in 2 adjoining direct pool access rooms. These are large rooms and lots of space for clothes with wardrobe and shelves behind bed etc. Wifi quite good but you have to login in if you go away for long period, but iPad stored the login, so no great problem. Two rooms share a small 10 foot square pool leading out onto a one lane long pool that runs along the whole 6 rooms in a block. The patio and small pool stay in the shade which is lovely and you can swim up and down the longer pool which is shady in the afternoon. Adjoining rooms are connected via the patio and not the pool, so specify if you want ones on either side of small pool. We never used the main pool as it doesn't open until 10am and we preferred swimming in the sea before breakfast, and it was too hot to use it in the afternoon for us, so the room pool was ideal.

The hotel is Thai design, so no walls on corridors or reception, restaurant etc. Also, the communal areas are designed to take water away so small steps everywhere and pools/drains. I would be wary of having small children here as beach steeply shelving and lots of water around walkways, though there were some young families who seems ok. Staff were lovely, very helpful and polite. Lots provided, beach towels, usual toiletries, toothbrushes, sewing kit, detergent and razers.
The only air con is in the main bedroom which was fine by us. The bathrooms are a bit dated, e.g. Old grout, but very large and clean, with a big bath and large walk in shower.

Breakfast was good with lots of western and SE Asian food choices to eat while overlooking beach.

There are a number of shops and restaurants within a short walk of the hotel and we ate at a different one every night and they were all good and cheap, about 300 to to 400B for meal and beer. Also, small supermarket and great gift shop on corner of the main road and the road down to the hotel opposite the Family Market supermarket, about 10 min walk from hotel.

Beach has a few bars, we ate at Cocorico about 100 m east of hotel and had great massages there as well.

Put off snorkelling trips by reviews so just did day trip on nearby ferry to Koh Phangnan, 500B return but make sure you exchange return voucher for tickets on the Khangnan. Lovely bakery, Nira's just to right of pier for coffee and buns. Also, good shopping centre for local shops and some crafts and indoor food market.

Took free hotel 4pm shuttle to Chaweng (very busy And loud music on beach where we went, and took Songthaew back at 300B to top of hotel road) and Fisherman's (lovely and drink in Indian restaurant on shore, 400B for taxi back). It rained heavily some evenings so we didn't go to the night markets.

Overall, I would come back to same room if I wanted a good rest in nice surroundings.

This hotel is massive and would have been very impressive in its day. The staff were very kind and helpful but the hotel needs a significant amount of investment to bring it up to modern standards. The whole place was very clean but the fabric of the buildings was shabby.

The staff have tried to keep on top of the maintenance but the hotel is so big and intricate it is a very difficult task. The deluxe room are generously spacious and the balcony is a nice touch.

The breakfast buffet was fine with a good choice, but not great compared to a "proper" 4 star hotel. We had lunch a few times at the hotel and it wasn't that good, so we ate most evenings at the small village of Maenam, which had about 10 places to eat and a few mini markets to buy cold drinks, snacks, etc.

There isn't much to do around the hotel and taxis are expensive (for Thailand) to get to somewhere with a bit of buzz at night. Check the location carefully because if you want nightlife, it is 25 minutes away with tourist-gouging taxi fares there and back.

Just stayed here for 10 nights on honeymoon and loved every minute. It is quite far from busy nightlife but so many lovely restaurants and bars round about. We loved it. Staff were so friendly too. The infinity pool is amazing. We had a grand pool villa with private pool which was beautiful

Very good staff. DVD access was a great thing. Location was too far from Chawang and the bathrooms could do with a steam spray. Truth....good place, beach great but location not great.
Taxi prices not great if you wanna head out. Minimum 400b

My husband and I planned our honeymoon to Koh Samui and decided on staying at Samui Buri. It was one of the many options we came across on Trip Advisor and selected it mainly because of the quality and services that was being offered at such economical price. Upon our arrival, we knew we made the right choice. The resort, the room, the staff, the food, the beach and other hotel services were upto the mark and generously satisfying. We had an amazing time at Samui Buri and will definitely recommend it to all those who want to enjoy peace, calm and relax and want to have a comfortable luxurious experience and at the same time want to keep their budget in check...then Samui Buri is definitely the place to go for!!!
