I have just finished a holiday here with my two kids, there were six adults making eight of us altogether. We have all had a good time and would recommend this place to families.
1, 90% of STAFF are friendly, approachable, warm, attentive and welcoming. The young lady "Tai Tai" stood out from the others. For a resort which is managed by mostly a young workforce, they do very well.
2, The GROUNDS are well kept, trees shrubbery and flowers are maintained daily.
3, ROOMS are cleaned once every day with fresh towels, basic toiletries, and linen when and where needed. The fridge is complimented with bottles of fresh drinking water each day.
4, There are plenty of SUNLOUNGERS and other sitting areas around the apartments and pool sides.
5, Swimming POOLS are attended to daily. There are three. Two large rectangular swimming pools and one smaller pool, ideal for kids. They are clean and basic.
6, Resort FOOD is well cooked and afternoon and evening meal menus are varied with a good selection of dishes, both local and European.
7, AIR Conditioning is basic but functional.
8, The LOCATION is ideal for exploring Mae Nams highlights. It is 10 mins to shops for food, drink and gifts . There are also a small number of clothes shops. It takes a couple of mins to get from any apartment to the beach through the restaraunt hallway. From the beach it's about fifteen mins walk to paddle boarding and kayaking. Five mins to jet skis.
9, The BEACH is clean, sandy and stretches for miles. There are a huge number of food and drink places on the beach front. Great to be able to eat on the beach and the florist has this luxury too. It is overall safe and accommodating for all needs.
10, The SEA is is of course warm and clean and you can easily walk out a good 20m before being out of foot depth as an adult. Children can build sand castles and play safely at the waters edge.
11, WiFi is available in the apartments and at the beach.
12, FOOD out with the resort which we found best : Ma Yom - Thai food. Roma Italian- European.
13, My wife, mum, brothers and kids found MASSAGES at U Bliss and Me Nan to be the best.
14, Walking Street deserves a mention. Every Thursday the main street adjacent to the resort converts to street food vendors and sales of bric a brac and tack. Beware the fake goods on offer, but for tat it's hard to beat! The food is excellent. A special mention goes to the deep fried spiral potatoes on stick.
1, TRAVEL - Although saving on some cash, which is always good, coming here from Tamiraat airport took us 2 buses and an awkward sweaty ferry ride on a rickety old boat. Wasn't received well, but we saw it through. If you can afford to fly into Koch Samui directly it's probably worth it.
2, The MUSIC on song nite at the resort was good, but the singing was terrible ! Get him to play guitar only next time !
3, BREAKFAST at the resort was always a talking point. Probably the most disorganised of all areas within the resort, brekkie normally turns into a bit of a chaotic mellee. For most of our visit there was one toaster to serve many guests. The coffee is often very strong and stewed and due to it being a limited "self serve" buffet style, obnoxious and greedy guests often bully their way into the front leaving other guests waiting for refills. Strangely it doesn't seem to be very clear who is leading in terms of the organisation during the morning eatery. Unfortunately most of the time we witnessed staff getting a hard time from the aforementioned gluttonous visitors. The resort could benefit from better organised staff at that area and a bigger selection for it to work well.
4, The DECOR and paintwork in most areas of the resort needs updated. It is often drab. Particular sour points are the rusted or broken sun loungers, faulty shower heads, which need a better flow. Hard chair surfaces outside the apartments are also in need of pillows or replacement.
5, BEDS are unforgiving on the back and butt and need softeners.
6, HANDTOWELS are needed for all rooms.
7, Frequent DOG battles occur in the middle of the night with often a dog squealing in pain as the local pack asserts its authority on a stray or unwanted mongrel who has breached the territory boundary.
Top tips for Enjoying the holiday and for Preparing if you are coming
1, Mosquito spray, air burner plug ins, baygon burners for outside are a must. Also Mozzy patches can help keep bites down.
2, Beware sand flies while sitting on the beach. Most bites I ended up with were on my feet and ankles..
3, Storms can occur quickly. Keep an eye of the sky. Flash floods don't last long but will force you to retreat indoors.
4, Keep an eye on the ground at night time for Lizards, Frogs and Spiders. Also the local digs will likely pay you a visit. Often looking for food but will settle for a scratch or stroke just the same before moving along.
We would recommend this resort to friends and family and although aren't travelling back here in the next few years, we may well return to it, in the future.
