Villa Meimar is a lovely villa and Bali, 7km, is a great place to spend evenings for dinner.
We used Go rent a Car and had no trouble with collection or the car for our stay. It villa is about 45 minutes from Heraklion and 30 minutes from Rethymnon.
You are in a gated area with 5 villas mostly lived in or private rental so the area is quiet. However you are just above the main road and there is noise from the road which can be heard outside. If you want a very peaceful place to stay this isn't for you but to be honest I didn't notice the noise after a couple of days - it was just background noise.
You have a private drive and garden with pool and look straight out over the sea towards Bali and get great sunsets. There are 6 sunbeds and a brolly which can be moved around for shade. There is a shaded area to eat outside and 2 more loungers with cushions. There is a BBQ.
The kitchen is very well stocked with plates, mugs, cutlery and pots and pans etc. There are a few bits and pieces to get you started, water and teabags and coffee. There is a supermarket in Heraklion near the airport so you can stock up before you head to the villa and a very good Lidl in Rethymnon.
Wifi is available and there is an inside dinning table and seating area.
Above the lounge, kitchen area is a mezzanine double bedroom up an open spiral staircase with it's own balcony & 2 chairs and a table. This has no storage.
Downstairs, ((open spiral staircase) there are 2 bedrooms with wardrobes. 1 double bed and a twin room. The double bed was quite firm but we used the duvet under us and that was better. There is a shower bathroom and a bathroom with shower over a bath.
Toilet rolls are provided and hand soap. There are also 2 hairdryers. However neither bedroom had a mirror. There is a plug outside the shower room which is near the mirror.
There is a lady that comes and cleans. Ask her about anything you can, washing machine, heating water on cloudy days and how to use the electric gates in a power cut as there isn't a 'useful information' booklet which would be a helpful.
There is also a man who cleans the pool once a week.
Overall I would recommend this villa but you need a car, you can't walk from the villa.
Sun beds 5 euros in Bali for 2, per day
Livadi taverna, 1st beach. Panorama, Psaropoulo & Akrogiali tavernas were favorites,
Palm beach Prevelli. Stop at the pond and bridge for lunch, lovely meal but go via the main road to Palm Beach!! not rough road.
