Absolutely wonderful holiday...a bit of a disappointed check out

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 4 weeks ago
Just returned home from a wonderful week here.... we arrived at the hotel at 4.30am and were greeted with a glass of fizz and offered a sandwich... we were taken by buggy to our room. The room was lovely, a small fully stocked fridge and coffee facilities (all though this area was small for making drinks) plenty of storage space and lovely comfy bed!
The resort itself was nothing more than spectacular... the service was absolutely brilliant and the staff make the holiday... Mario at the pool bar looked after us everyday and is a great asset to the hotel... Sasha our waitress on the beach was also fabulous... Iosif always looked after us at lunchtime.. our dinner waitress and evening waitress were also wonderful.. they all worked tirelessly to make you feel relaxed and looked after. The resort itself was spotless and you get a buggy service to your room/reception or too the beach... a great help as our room was at the back. The choice of food at mealtimes is really varied and the kitchen staff must work round the clock.. the buffet area was always spotlessly clean. We ate on the beach one night and at the Greek restaurant, both were lovely. Visited the cocktail bar a couple of times this was also lovely! Our room was cleaned spotlessly every day. The hotel has more than enough sun beds and we used the same Bali beds daily which great as I like a bit of shade. Overall the entire holiday was a 10/10... above other 5* hotels we have stayed!
Sadly the only negative was that we were flying home early hours on the Sunday but we were informed our all inclusive finished at 6pm on the Saturday night!!!! Considering we arrived the previous Sunday at 4.30am we didn't even really get 7 nights... (although we knew this part on booking) it was therefore a suprise to find out that between 6pm on Saturday to our coach pick up at 9pm we would then have to pay for our evening meal and any drinks for those 3 hours!! We spoke to our Tui rep who said this was the hotel policy... Considering the week cost just shy of £3000 for 2people I felt it really was not good on the hotels behalf!! It made the last day rather stressful trying to arrange for this to be rectified... after a bit of back and forth the hotel decided as a gesture of good will we could eat dinner! We saved the drinks from our room and drank these. The hotel really needs to address this... we always book 5* and have never come across this before... so found this a bit of a disappointment to end our holiday with

The resort rooms were just as seen in the photos, very clean and comfortable. The sharing pool was added bonus to our holiday which we are pleased we chose, this offered more freedom to do as you please. Could not fault the food or the hospitality, staff could not do enough for you. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

We rarely go to the same hotel twice but Anemos stole our hearts last year and we came back this August. It’s stylish, aesthetically pleasing and serene and also superbly family-oriented and really fab on evening entertainment (The Drifters were absolute corker of a show). We enjoyed a high level of service, nothing’s ever a problem, and super delicious dinners including top notch a-la-cartes. My 6yo kid is a huge fan of their kids club - and he’s got his standards high up believe me :) The sea is warm and clean with a sandy beach. On both visits (both in August) we were unlucky and had a few days of yellow and red flags when we couldn’t swim, which of course isn’t the hotel’s fault, but we are more of a sea then swimming pool people so for us it was a bit disappointing. We walked along the beach to a lovely taverna just next to Anemos beach on a fee occasions that was reasonably priced and lovely, and to the nearest town Georgiopolis, forgive my spelling. What would have made our stay better are dedicated areas for smokers as we had to passive smoke quite a lot at the evening shows. Big thanks to all the buggy drivers - as my son called them ‘Mario carts’ - the buggy trips are a big highlight for kids and adults. Anemos is a special place and stays with you, we shall definitely be back!

Room tip: Before you buy an inflatable, check with the kids club as they borrow some stuff that people leave behind. Free & good for the planet.

Anemia is a great hotel. Not too large and looks beautiful.

Things we loved were the staff and the a la carte restaurants where the food was amazing.

The main buffet restaurant was good too but you must try the restaurants .

We found all the staff to be great, super friendly and great service - we would give special mention to Stafanos; Mario; Nickoleta; Aris; Armando; Konstantina & Kristoss - well done for making our holiday extra special.

The room was large and comfortable and well equipped - the cleanliness was also superb throughout our 11 night stay.

The room came with a good size shared pool though it was in the shade in the afternoon. We tended to use the main pool or our daughter loved the small water slide area.

It’s well served by bars and snack bar. The food from all the bars was also great.

It’s got all the amenities you could want but mai rains the nice feel of a hotel rather than one of the larger resort type places.

The beach is great and you can snorkel and see fish in the morning mornings.

It’s about a mule walk to some shops and coffee shops and five minutes in a taxi to Georgiopulous which is worth a visit. We also hired a boat for 3 hours to visit caves and secluded coves for swimming

We hired a car from Tony’s rent a car great service and was great to travel the coastline which is stunning.

The reason I’ve not given 5 stars was a few minor things - [ ] Check in - just do it at the desk - app a clunky when you just arrive after travel; no wine in mini bar just beer?; the small gym needs a makeover - servicing? addition bench; click/ timer on wall; ordering drinks could be slow and most places do an app for this - I ended up going to bar a lot; spirits on all inclusive where imported but not premium brands; breakfast buffet finished too early - should be open until 11am I think.

There were good Vegetarian options but not at breakfast - veggie sausages would have been good

Minor points though and overall lovely place.

We have just returned from 9 nights holidays with my husband and children who are , 9 year old and 18yrs. We had such an amazing time. Something for everyone, water slides and pool were great for our 9 year old but we also enjoyed them. Food was really good, staff always so helpful and friendly. The private beach was beautiful. We had a room with plunge pool, definitely worth the extra money.

Good points - Rooms are well appointed with decent showers and bedding. Pool temperature is ideal, great loungers and gazebos and the water slides are good fun for all. The staff are friendly especially at the kids pool where we spent most days. However one gripe is they don’t follow their own guidelines -So anything goes on the slides, inflatables, body boards, 3 at a time. There’s a lifeguard around sometimes, but they don’t enforce any safety or make sure the pool is clear at the bottom before the next person goes, so accidents are inevitable. The Spa is decent quality and treatment was of a good standard and price was fair for a spa hotel around £80-£90 for a hour.

The food is a mixed bag even at the a la cartes. The fish restaurant was very average with no real flavour to anything. The Greek was pretty good, and Asian restaurant starters great but mains were too salty, I would say we’ve had better in our standard local Thai’s in the UK. Service is always very good and staff are well trained. The Buffet is a real mixed bag and can get a bit samey. The meat is normally dry and overcooked, the chicken skewers were always very dry, they even managed to overcook a beautiful joint of beef fillet. The desserts look amazing but lack any real flavour and most just taste of cream so aren’t really worth the calories. The Sushi was a refreshing change on our last night and was really well done. The breakfast service is a bit chaotic especially if you get there after 9. Lots of cups and bowls are chipped and it’s normally a game of steal a spoon from another table and hope for a hot coffee. The eggs are precooked so are often cold and the porridge is like water and not good. The wait for a fresh omlette is too long. The Fresh fruit and greek yoghurt is always good though.

The Kids activity area needs some tlc especially the mini golf course which lacks any imagination and it’s basically falling apart. The fencing around the football pitch also needs fixing along with new football nets, it all looks a bit tired. The activity programme is basically the same every day which gets a bit tedious, more imagination required I think.

The Gym is definitely not state of the art. Very basic in a small area with very limited and dated equipment for even a basic workout. Leg press out of order all week. The one bench was falling apart and barbell dangerously broken at one end. Poor.

The resort isn’t that big, maybe a 5 min walk end to end and a 5 min walk to beach, so those people moaning about the wait for golf carts to run them around are being a bit picky or just lazy! We enjoyed the stroll to the beach which is clean with plenty of loungers.

The format of all inclusive feels the same as it was 20 years ago when I last went on one in Turkey. The entertainment is still a bit like a outtake from Britain’s got talent at times with a fair bit of cringe!

The Kids (9&7) enjoyed it but lacked any wow factor for us. The convenience of having beach, pool with food and drink on tap is beneficial and we did enjoy relaxing there, but I don’t think overall it offers great value for money so we wouldn’t rush back.

Room tip: Get a higher number room if you want to be at the quieter end
