On the last day of our holiday we wanted traditional Greek food for lunch before returning to England. We chose only main courses, a wise decision as a starter would have been OTT. I had the kleftiko and was offered a choice of rice, jacket potato or chips to accompany it. My friend chose Youvetsi, a veal stew with pasta. Both were substantial meals and very tasty. Together with a half litre of the house red we felt we'd had a typical Greek repast to sustain us on the flight home. Then we were offered a dessert 'on the house' - panna cotta with a chocolate sauce - along with raki as a digestif. A fitting end to our holiday.

Just got back from eating here and what a fab meal it was! Home made tomato soup and cheese rolls to start then kleftiko and souvlaki for mains. Very hot and very tasty. Staff were friendly and efficient and the ambience was lovely. All at an excellent price. A lovely touch was the free raki and little pudding This was our first visit but I don’t think it’ll be our last!

We had mixed feelings about the food and service here. We have dined here on several occasions over the past ten years and always been impressed by the homely, authentic atmosphere and food.
Sadly, Valentino seems to be slowly deteriorating as a result of its success.
Wendy really enjoyed her chicken in red wine (a steal at €7.50 with rice and chips) and I had a good mixed grill on our first visit. However, my lamb kleftiko on the aecond time around was very poor. No clay pot or parcel. The lamb was 50%bone and slathered with fried onions with a small amount of feta melted across the top. I scraped off the 'sauce' and left it along with the portion of tinned sliced mushrooms. The potatoes 'from the oven' were covered in a tomato sauce which would have gone better with the lamb.
In a posh restaurant, this dish might have been the chef's 'amusing' take on a deconstructed lamb kleftiko. In this context, it was wrong, shoddy and pretty unpleasant.
The staff were efficient although the young man with a passing resemblance to Cristiano Ronaldo needs to remember that looks aren't everything and that he needs to put in a shift like the other staff members!

First visit to this restaurant and first impressions were of a clean well laid out taverna. The surroundings are attractive and comfortable and the service was friendly and efficient. There are both covered and uncovered areas for diners, we chose the uncovered as it was early evening and relatively cool. We had a starter and main, and our grandson went for the little fish which he enjoyed. The sword fish (my main) is always the deal clincher for me as if it is not cooked correctly it is too dry. no problems on that score the fish was nicely done, as was everyone's mains and the wine nicely chilled and the Raki a treat as always. Everything was well presented and nicely cooked in the best of Cretan traditions. No complaints
