We were very disappointed with the Christmas Lunch - we went for Christmas lunch the year before and it was stunning. This year it seemed that they cut corners with some of the food choices especially when it came to the starters even though the price had drastically increase. The atmosphere was disappointing the staff sang Christmas carols the year before and this year it seemed that there was no effort put into creating a atmosphere. When we asked around and said that we were not very happy people in the area said that there was new management. We definitely will not be returning this year.

Dear Carin 14

Thank for taking the time to provide feedback via Trip Advisor, we served in excess of 130 people for Christmas Lunch, and have received nothing but compliments for our menu which was as follows:

Starters Prawn Roll Ups
Salmon and Spinach Rolls
Tomato & Mozzarella Rolls
Vegetable Samosas
Mains Turkey
Glazed Gammon
Greek Leg of Lamb
Peppered Sirloin
Salads & Vegetables Baby Potato Salad
Bread Salad
Pasta Salad
Butternut Salad
Mixed Salad
Beetroot Salad
Spinach & Mushroom Salad
Broccoli Salad
Desserts Steamed Fruit Salad
Black Forest Trifle
Chocolate Dream
Caramel Cracker
Christmas Cake

We firmly believe that at R310 per person we provided exceptional value for money compared to the regional prices.

Your comments about the Carol Singing is noted, usually a resort hotel will use their staff after or prior to the evening meal on the 24th December to sing carols to the guests. We had a Christmas evening meal for our resident guests as part of their weekend package which included a festival of nine lessons and carols. We do feel that to provide the same entertainment to our guests the next day would, have spoilt what for them was already a memorable weekend.

Once again thank you for your valued feedback, we do hope to that you will join us not only for Christmas Lunch this year but, take advantage of our Christmas weekend package.

Should you be in Fouriesburg in the not too distant future, please feel free to join us for complimentary Illy Coffee.

Yours in Hospitality

William

We stayed over for two nights at the Fouriesburg Country Inn as part of a group visiting the Ficksburg cherry festival. When reading one bad review prior to our visit we were not impressed. But when we arrived at the Inn....what a nice surprise! Great rooms, great breakfasts and supper. Fantastic service and the most interesting cellar. I really hope that we will be sleeping over at the same place next year when we visit the cherry festival again as part of the tour group.

Room Tip: Any room is perfect.

Having stayed here over a year ago as part of a tour group we had no hesitation in staying over for a night again as a couple travelling by ourselves.

We were made very comfortable, and as there were very few guests in for dinner when we ate we were offered the bar as venue rather than be alone in the large dining room. A table was set up and we enjoyed a great meal in some lively company. Breakfast the next morning (after a very warm and comfortable sleep) was without pizazz, but generous and tasty. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Would have no hesitation in a third , fourth, or fifth visit if the opportunity arises.

Room Tip: A Room in the annex (the old house on same grounds, but next to the main building) is recommended.

It is now about a year since the new owners have taken over. Their personal touch is gone.
The rooms are the same, slightly cramped but clean and neat.
Some maintenance required.
The food is disappointing. No tea at breakfast - yes it is provided if you ask - but hardly with a smile from the chef.
The culinary experience leaves to be desired. Presentation needs improvement. How hard can it be not to burn a processed sausage?

We stayed in the annex building. The unit was spacious enough, linen and bedding was acceptable good quality. Bathroom was long and narrow, no problem on a short stay.

The main building features the reception, bar and good restaurant. Menu selection was good, They also have a above average wine selection from their cellar.

The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. Will stay here without hesitation.

Room Tip: They make a proper cappuccino at the restaurant.
